Hanna
« on: July 31, 2011, 03:22:53 am »
An action thriller starring Eric Banna a CIA agent gone to ground, and Saorise Ronan as his daughter, Hanna. They are living in the wilds of Finland, whereabouts unknown to anyone. Eric is training her to be an agent, for reasons that aren't immediately apparent, but become clear in good time. Cate Blanchett was his handler when he disappeared.

All in all this was a fine movie, good acting, not brilliant. Excellent sound track by Chemical Brothers and great cinematography and locations. I've found that if the movie has Saorise in it, i'll go and have a look. She has been in some really interesting movies, and her choices continue to impress. She first came to prominence in Atonement, along with James Mackavoy. I eagerly watched movies with either of them in it, but Mackavoy hasn't picked the most challenging roles. He was most recently in X-men as Xavier. But I did read an interview with him where he said if he didn't get any more roles, he wouldn't be fussed as he had bought a nice place in London. Nice position to be in. Saorise obviously is much more interested in interesting roles, when you consider her age.

4/5

I'd say 4/5 for this as well. The action was great, no big twists plotwise and the ending was great. Love the soundtrack as well, I'm gonna get that tune that the short boss of the skinheads whistle as a ringtone for sure.

Great movie. Saoirse Ronan is a brilliant little actress, we've seen a couple of stellar displays on the silver screen from Irish actors this year.

Is this the Hunger Games ripoff that they rushed out before the real thing?

I've seen exactly one trailer and one poster for this movie, and I see a lot of movies.  Got me nervous.

Nothing to do with it, and no resemblance to the plot. Hanna is a spy thriller type story...
