How much can one save if you de-case a lcd tv?  usally .75" to 1" or larger?  I know every LCD model is different .. but on average how much?

I find you get about an inch but with some slimline frames you get less.

if it's a TV, then you can gain a few inches, but monitors...not much

I saved 2.1 inches at the bottom and 1.5 the rest of the way around when I de cased my 32" for my cocktail machine, however be warned it will run slightly hotter without the case, and will require more air flow. Most lcds are small enough to just build your cab around them in the case:)

and if you really don't mind the extra $$$ then use a LED, they are very thin, and produce almost NO heat at all. I am hoping my wife lets me upgrade to an led so I can be rid of the 4 exaust fans I had to install.... they are blue leds so they look cool but still 4 fans does add to the noise factor:)   Godd luck and happy hunting
