Hold on a minute here:  Just saw this:
http://deals.woot.com/deals/details/921fd115-f59a-48c1-98a2-b067e1a746b7/staples-com-staples-coupons-100-off-any-tablet-in-store-only#14

With that you can get the tranformer for 299.  That changes everything.  My above critique was pretty much if the price is similar go with the Ipad, but if you can pick one of these things up for 299, it might be worth a shot...

Hmm. That's odd had 2 iPhones over the last three years, never did that to get an app.

Th reason there are no keyboards on phones is that it makes the phone too bulky

Hmm. That's odd had 1 Android phone over the last three years, never had a reason to upgrade or replace it. The OS is even upgraded to the latest Android OS for smart phones.

The reason my Droid has a keyboard is that it makes it easier for me to type.  The Droid X doesn't have a keyboard, so if you prefer not to have one, you don't have to have one.

It's all preferences.
I prefer an phone that's durable and has an OS that allows hardware like keyboards, dual screens, 3D cameras... so I bought an Android phone that suits my needs.

Other people prefer a phone that is obsolete and abandoned by the manufacture in a year and an OS that is inflexible, so they buy an iPhone.

This thread and the $100 staples coupon lead me to look at tablets at both Office depot and Staples.

I ended picking up the 7 inch Dell Streak $199 after the coupon. It's definitly not an ipad or transformer, but my initial 24 hour impression is favorable. Duel core cpu. 16gigs, sd slot. Not bad. It has some quirks, and runs android 2.2 froyo but it performs well and reacts quickly. What sold me was its pdf viewing.

Some reviews mentioned its battery life, the battery lasted for 6hours of wifi, music and movies with 7 hours of standby mixed in, good enough. I am typing this post on it.

In the end I didnt want to spend more money.

Search around the Dell and Android tablet forums to see if there is a custom version of 3 that’ll work for it.

I'm not sure if that's possible or not for your tablet, but I’ve seen some of the custom versions of 3 run better than the official one.

There is a custom Honycomb 3.1 rom available and from the instructions online rooting is pretty straight-forward.

Dell is also reportadly releasing a honycomb update for it later this year. in either case the new version of android looks pretty cool.

I was able to use that coupon at OfficeMaxxx, with price matching. Staples was totally out.
Your local might not be as nice as mine , though. :D
