CompUSA Auctions??
« on: September 05, 2003, 03:46:40 pm »
Has anyone had any experiences with CompUSA auctions?  I just looked at their auctions website and they have a bunch of 21 inch monitors for under $200, many different brands.  What's the catch?

They are Refurbs, which can mean they cleaned the case, turned it on, looked for a power light, and boxed it up.

I bought a refurb'd monitor from ubid.com once, it had a cracked case and was pure junk.

I'd be careful.   Make sure you can return it.  If you have to pay for return shipping, you could be out $50 bucks just to look at it.

You may want to try a computer show in your area, if there are any.  I got my 19" Hitachi for $89.  There were larger monitors there for a bit more, but this one fit into my cab.

These monitors should all be working (at the shows I go to, the monitors are running in front of you) but of course, YMMV.

Note, these aren't new, they're pulls.

Allow me to suggest the best used 22" monitor you can buy (Mistubishi 2040U) for $196 + $88 shipping via truck.
secondwindpcs.com

SecondWindPC's specialize in obtaining leased equipment from companies. Most of their hardware is 2-3 years old.  I bought 2 of these big Mitsubishi 2040U monitors and love them! What a steal. 2 years ago, these monitors when for $1200-$1300 each.

Last time I talked to them, they had over 80 of these monitors in stock.

They won't ship by Fedex, because they said Fedex always breaks them. So they ship by a smaller trucking company.

If you do a search for Mitsubishi 2040U reviews, you'll see they are awesome.  Here's one:
