I just purchased a D9800 from a fellow gamer off the buy/sell/trade forum. In my mind, I justified my purchase, but after some events, I wonder if the "want vs. need" got the best of me.
I have a NEC XM2950, and it's been a great monitor. My fear is that it was made in 1993 (I think). So as expensive as it was back in the day, I fear the day it shuts down and I can't afford the repair bill. So I now I'm the lucky owner of a NEC presentation monitor that does all arcade resolutions and I have a D9800 for my backup.

The NEC was a little dim compared to the D9800...I was a little worried when I got the D9800 home...it wouldn't synch. After frantically searching the internet I found a post about the VGA cable needed to have the #9 pin missing. I looked at my VGA cable and sure enough my cord had a pin at #9. So I scoured the house and I located an old VGA cable that fit the bill. BEHOLD!!!! the D9800 comes to life!. Thinking what the heck, I connected the same old cable to the NEC monitor...and the dimnesss went away! I know I could have adjusted the flyback or turnd up the brightness, but those would have been a last resort.
Now the D9800 looks to be a fantastic monitor, but now I'm worried I got spoiled with the NEC XM2950. Here's a couple of pics of the NECXM2950 vs. the D9800 using the MKII monitor crosshatch pattern. The D9800 shows some geometry issues in the upper edges of the screen. I've tried to use the OSD to fix the bow, but I haven't been successful.
Does anyone have any suggestions what I can do to try to straighten out the geometry on the D9800? Or am I nitpicking???
