joystick wont work on neo geo games

Hey guys,

I am having issues on all neo geo games (metal slug + have tested with others).  My ultimarc U360s wont work at all on these games.  All other games are fine.  THe joysticks wont even work in the mame menus on these ones, even though in the control settings the joysticks are set to work (and they work in all non neo geo games).  I am running mame 0.142, and as far as i know the bios rom for neo geo is up to date.

Any idea on what the problem could be??
