I love this project!  I may even be able to "borrow" ideas from you!   ;D

You're lighting concept is really nice.  I've been trying to figure out how to get a nice even "Neon" glow with LEDs.  I've been experimenting with embedding LEDs in translucent white silicone or vinyl tubing, but the results so far have been very "spotty".

Your method seems to produce a much more even glow.

Thank you for sharing!!!

I have to say im very envious. I've been gather data for my second cab and i saw your post. Im a huge fanboy of anything Tron, but sadly im working on a G1 transformers theme using newer artwork and such. But lighting wise i've been scoping out ways to do dynamic lighting for the CP, you have some great concepts... 1+ for your proof of concepts.  You should definitely get some light cycle grid action for side art.  Are you going to use some of the lighting concepts/designs to the rest of the cab?

best of luck, look forward to see progress pics.

And not to set my sights too high, but since this is a pedestal build, my idea for the base is to whip up something loosely-inspired by our friend, the recognizer:

Just be careful how you play on it.  Play well enough and it may decide to capture you and take you to the game grid.  Play too well and it may just derezz you...

I have to admit though if a pedestal looked like that I would be like "Holy $#!T  What is that??!!" as I stand there awestruck.

Ok, you NEED to install one of these laser effect thingies in the marquee area for when you get de rezzed

I was under the impression he masked and back painted a full sheet of plexi, then placed it on top of the mdf.

No fiddly plexi cutting required.
