I just don't know what to say except that somebody really needs to take his power tools away from him ! I got some nice dining room chairs for him just in case he wants to upgrade his current bucket seats. ::) Hell, if it needs new wheel bearings I could probably widdle up a pair out of a nice piece of red oak. I'd love to meet the stooges who are actually bidding on that wooden nightmare. I would hand the lucky winner a paper bag to put over his head so that his friends don't recognize him.

I'm guessing the "few imports mags" featured it in the "Believe it or not, There are bigger losers than us" pages.  Let's see, $5000 to rebuild this...

$200 for basic tune-up parts for a 200k mile engine, $300 at walmart for the "Great sound system", $75 for plywood and stain, $70 for tires, adds up to about $645.

I wonder where the other $4355 of the rebuild went?

On the other hand I'm sure it does "grab attention from everyone".  Probably causes wrecks from people laughing at him.
They say patience is a virtue, and ignorance is bliss.  So I guess you can have a pretty good life if you're stupid and don't mind waiting around.

I wonder where the other $4355 of the rebuild went?.

You missed a few:
$20 for the steering wheel cover
$25 Fancy matching seat covers
$25 matching floor mats
$6 Shiney blue tape (on the dash)
$1 fancy air freshener
$30 "profesional" car cleaning (That counts as part of a rebuild... right? :P)

Well shoot... That still leaves $4238...

OH!!! I know!
The custom "mirrored" ice blue window tint must have cost a fortune!

Sheesh...
I'm not a freak!...
Oh wait...
Yes I am...

OT, but straight guys have an alternate use of "gay" that I won't get into because it might offend, but it doesn't always literally mean "gay" to us, especially when used to refer to a person's actions or an inanimate object.

Basically like how folks in the 50's used to say "that's queer" meaning "that's odd".  Now we say "that's gay".  It's not nice, but it's something that goes back to grade school and we usually don't use it in mixed company...

BTW, y'all co-opted that term anyway!  It didn't always mean what it means now.  Remember the Flintstones?  "We'll have a gay old time", don't think they were talking about Barney and Fred, uh...never mind...

There's actually an interesting article in this months paper edition of wired on that...

Apparently atheists, etc.. want to coin the term/meme "brights" to denote their ... uh grouping...

They used the gay rights movement's coinage of "gay" as an example meme that they would of course like to mimick...

There's a bit more to the story/article... but that was the gist.

I assume we are just bantering about, word usage/meanign context here..

1) I'm glad to see there are some gay members (is that PC now?  I remember someone explaining to me that "queer" was in because of the "queer nation" quote... ).  I would have taken arcade games to be one or two steps below "truck rally" on the list of places gay men don't go...  Another stereotype...

because

2) I never use it as the term odd (pretty degrating).  but as great taste... (that DID NOT sound right!).

To use this car to have anything to do with "gay" is down right offensive.. Heck... I would hold it offensive to everyone who lives in Dever!  Heck, now I'm hoping there isn't anything that could associate myself with this person... If he has glasses I might get some contacts.

NOW... if they did the same thing to a real car... and made it look classy.  He did a decent job... but was trying to look like a ---smurfy--- car look closer to a shittier car..

Imagine if he did the whole car...  Like a PT cruiser... to make it look more authentic.  Might be cool.  (I liked the PT cruisers for the first few years before they started looking like bugs).

Have the trim panels in different colored wood.  It would look nice.
