Joystick under-mounting (hiding bolts)

I routed out an area under my control panel for my joystick and just realized that I will need to drill holes to keep the joysticks attached to the control panel.  I have a woodgrain finish and would like to try and hide the bolts if possible. I was thinking about countersinking the holes except that the control panel is already stained the and the first coat of polyurethane has been applied.

Any ideas?

Use an insert, like these http://www.davart.co.uk/inserts-multibarb.htm - drilled and mounted into the underside of your CP.

Those look like they will work perfectly! Wow...7 bucks for a couple pieces of metal... Thats quite a profit margin.
