Nimrods Arcade Project
« on: June 15, 2011, 12:38:47 pm »
Hi everyone,
I have used mame on my pc for years and never even thought of building a cabinet to put it in.
Until now that is. My project is not quite finished yet, but i'd like to thank everyone on here. I have gained a lot of knowledge and inspiration from here.

Hi,
The Cabinet is almost finished now just waiting on my marquee.
It is built from 18mm MDF from plans I made based around plans found on  ArcadeCab.com.
The cabinet was then painted in a black matt mdf paint. Which came out very well actually you can hardly tell its painted. I then bought some blue t-molding from ebay and then had to try and figure out fit it in without having a router. A few days later and i realised i may be able to make the cut with a sonic cutter i already had. After a few test runs on some spare pieces I went for it. Let me tell you it takes a while but it came out great.
After much deliberation and web searching I finally came up with my own idea for the bezel. I ordered a custom sized pre cut sheet of clear plexi glass and using a craft knife i left the protective covering only on where the screen will be. Then with a blue Glass Pen I drew the lightning on and then sprayed over it with a black acrylic spray. When i then removed the centre protective covering and turned it around the result was amazing, you would never tell that's how i did it.
Control panel was custom made using an ipac and buttons and joysticks bought from ebay and then wrapped in a self adhesive vinyl so it is hard wearing.
Inside is 5.1 surround sound and colour changing LEDS for the speaker holes and marquee light.
My PC runs windows XP which is completely hidden, it boots straight in to Maximus Arcade which runs all my emulators, MAME, Kawaks, CPS 3, all of the segas all of the nintendos, Playstation, PC games like grand theft auto, future pinball(Which is what the buttons are for on the side of the control panel). It is also a Juke box and runs a home cinema edition of windows media player for all my videos.
Thanks for reading.
P.S I know this one is not quite finished yet and I'm already thinking about the next one!
