To begin with, this thread is just a preliminary inquiry: is there any interest in compiling a list of the available gampads/controllers for each Console platform out there?

Has this already been done and I didn't see it?

What I'd like to do is put together a review list of the different controllers/gamepads that are out there, so for future PC console gamers / MAME cab builders, they will have a '1 stop shop' for info on what console controllers they can use.

Off my rocker here? Too big a topic to bite off?

This may not be ENTIRELY on point, but I recommend the Bliss-Box, as it allows you to use the consoles' original controls.
I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I have ended up where I needed to be.

My vote is xbox 360 controllers

That's what I use.  The 360 controller is one of my fav controllers and i think it works rather well overall.  The D-Pad is pretty horrible though IMO, so you lose some of the feel on older emulators.  I'd like to use original controllers for everything, but the 360 pad works alright for me.
