Sony PSP-Will it work with dead UMD?
« on: June 07, 2011, 10:15:59 pm »
Hey
A local guy is selling a psp cheap. Says it works fine just not the UMD drive.  I want to hack it and play consoles and backups.  Does the UMD drive have to be functional to do this?

thanks
Jim

I never read a guide that used the UMD.  Just don't let him know that what you want it for and low ball him on the offer.   You need to be more concerned with the current firmware revision and your access to a tool battery.  I'd encourage you to find a guide to accomplish what you intend to do first.

In the long run, it may be cheaper to get one of those dingo handhelds.

My UMD drive never worked and it plays backups fine. Just use a pandora battery to mod it.
