Playstation Network Welcome Back Package; 2 Free Games!
« on: June 06, 2011, 12:19:02 pm »
Free games in the ps store to make up for psn being down. You can pick 2 out of like 5 or 6. I just grabbed infamous and littlebigplanet. When you open ps store you just have to click on welcome back and follow prompts. You can also get plus free for one month.

I'll be getting the same two games.

How long did it take to download inFamous?

I figured the store will be geting slammed for hte first couple of weeks.
I don't want ot start a download and then not be able to play online without lag for a night.

I have 4 accounts on my PS3, and I was able to download 2 games for each account.

USA - Mine - WipeOut HD + Fury / Little Big Planet
USA - Son's - Super Stardust HD / inFamous
EUR - Dead Nation / Ratchet & Clank
JPN - Store not up yet, so no free games yet, but I am confident. :)

I was able to download every game offered in the USA and EUR welcome back deals, so heads up to anyone out there with multiple accounts. Not a bad deal at all, as long as my CC does suffer from the initial identity theft. heh

Also, my son's account is a sub account of mine, but he was still able to get in on the deal.

Yeah, I just found that out too.  My girlfriend has a PSN account (for whatever reason I made her do it), so I'll download the other two games I don't have.  Pretty sweet.

I started the download lastnight this morning it was at 48%.

I kept it downloading when I went to work. Hopefully leaving it on for 18+ hours isn't going to kill it.

Wow, I played inFamous last night.

When I complete it I'm going to buy inFamous 2(whether or not it's under my $30 a game limit).

I don't know if that was part of their plan for letting Sony give it away or not, but it’s going to be great advertising for them.

you might want to rent infamous 2, I wouldnt buy it just yet. Played it, and its kinda meh. The first one was way cooler, this one is good too, but there are some factors about it that are really frustrating.
Pictures are overrated anyway.

I think PSN has a playable demo of inFamous 2 - though I don't know how much of the gameplay it'd cover.

That would be my only option at least.  There's literally no where around here to rent games anymore.  :-\  I'd blame Netflix if I didn't love them so damn much.

(*And no, not spending money on Gamefly)

I am enjoying the Welcome Back package.
So far I have taken advantage of the free month of Playstation Plus...Sonic 2 for free (not as great as I remembered it) :P, a few dynamic themes, but probably the best feature is the auto-downloading. I downloaded my 2 free games by using the PS+ feature that turns on your system and downloads the games or updates that are pending. You can set it for anytime you want, then it turns itself off.

I haven't even tried my 2 games yet... But did play Mortal Kombat online a couple times. With ---smurfing--- awful lagging! What's with that?

So you can do two accounts on the same console?  I'll have to give my little brother my username/password.  My PS3 is in storage for the foreseeable future so I figured I'd just have to miss out on this cos it only lasts a month.

I think it's a month starting whenever you choose it.
I was waiting until things slowed down at work and I had more time before using it.

If you're referring to the PS+ then that's correct.  But you only have until July 3rd to claim it unfortunately (as well as the free games).  Got to break it out of storage, if possible.

Best case scenario it's not coming out of storage before the deal is over.  I'm in Chicago and it's in Miami and I'm looking for work primarily in NY and DC.  Even if I get a job tomorrow I won't have the thing shipped to me in time.  Best I can do is give it away.  That's why I ask whether you can do multiple accounts on the same console.

Yes, you can have multiple accounts on the same console. As I said in an earlier post, I have 4 on mine.

Also, if you let your little brother use your account on his PS3, then when you get yours out of storage, you redownload them there as well.

I would definitely recommend going ahead with that.

My little brother tried it and said he got the message:

you cannot sign in using another user's sign-in Id (e-mail address)

Any ideas?  Is he misunderstanding what he has to do to use my PSN account?

Edit:  Nevermind . . . he just texted me that he figured it out.  Got me Dead Nation and Infamous.  Cool!

I signed up on PS+. It said I'll be charged in a month if I don't unsubscribe.

I signed up last night.  There was another 1 long update so after that I didnt' have much time to figure out what PS+ actually is. Did anyone here have it (besides those of us that got it for free)?

What is it? and is it worth having for free just so I can forget about it and have them charge me for it next month?

I've had PS+ since it's started and to be honest it's worth the $50 a year. you get 1 PSN game most of which I've played, 1 PSone game like before most are good like all the spiral games, and 2 PS mini games that I really never play, some free DLC like the ashes to ashes Killzone 3 DLC mp maps. and a ton of discounts on new PSN releases and some of the DLC. plus the one thing I like is the cloud saving I can transfer any save to Sony's servers as a backup in case I want to upgrade or download the save to another PS3.

I thought it was like Netflix, but when I poked around I only found movies I had to pay for.

Do you get to keep teh stuf you download after you cancel the account?

I downloaded that free bit/bites theme and it's complete nonsense, how do I delete it?

The free stuff from PS+ will no longer work I'm reading.  Anything you buy at a discount will.   The free games as part of the Welcome Back will continue to work.

To delete the ugly, ugly theme, I thing you just choose it and press TRIANGLE (???) and there should be an option to delete.  (Off the top of my head - it's likely I'm wrong, but that's the way to delete other stuff from your system).

On a separate note for those with multiple accounts on their PS3:  So I've seen that downloading another two games for the PS3 through a second account (that was established before the cutoff - i.e. you can't just create an account now and get the games) works.  You can play all the games through any account.  HOWEVER, with the PSP, you can't have multiple accounts on the handheld (it can only be linked to one).  So if you want to get more than two of the free PSP games, you'll need to get a second PSP or constantly switch PSN credentials on the system (though someone told me you can just swap memory sticks - I haven't tried it, but it's the easiest way if it works).

I guess I'm miffed because I should have downloaded ModRacers instead of Killzone.  :-[
