Picked up my Ebay win locally today.  One is a Classic Dud, and the other is a Conversion Favorite.

OPERATION WOLF:  I fully understand the non demand in purchasing this very early gun-op.  I imagine there is not much I can do with this amazingly intact original cabinet, as far as conversions go (because of that big gun pedestal).  But I am very new into this hobby, and like comic books, my eye looks for authentic "solid" works.  I dont even know what year this gun op was released, but after physically picking it up, and moving it 45 miles, It is amazingly in VERY solid shape.  Its never seen water damage like my defender.  Just beat the hell up from being moved, and worked on, from what I can tell.  It has a Horizontal Electro G07(mirror casted), and a newer non linear power supply, I max bid 77 dollars on it, because it was ending with a MK2 conversion from the same auctioneer at the exact same time.  It looked solid, and I figured WTH.  I won.   It wont power up, is all I know.

MORTAL KOMBAT 2 CONVERSION:
This cab is a "Dynamo" that has been arcade converted into a Mortal Kombat2.  Whats cool, is I found all the conversion blueprints inside after unloading.

I was told that the game played fine, monitor just had lines on startup.  Not exactly the case, but at the price won, I am not bitching.  She needs some help.  Both Joysticks were FAIL, so I cannibilized, and got one working.  Ordered some competition ones on the way...  I was initally having some "power down" interupts, but after changing P/S cord things have been stayblil   for a minute.....    The "lines" are not just on start up, but persist thru-out extended game play.  They even get worse, till a "fonzerelli smack on the side" straightens it back up.  Somethings loose, for sure. You will see what I mean, Pictures are worth 1K.

AND THEN WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO "FINISH IT".....................

I get a squashed, lined presentation.   One smack on the side, and it straightens up...

Does that operation wolf work?

I know someone who would like that, how far are you from STL MO?

I would make the MK a fighter mame or vertical 4 way game perhaps?

I have no idea what the Wolf needs, havnt even plugged it in.  No it doesnt work.  I was told that it doesnt power up.  I am in Michigan, so thats the thing.  These are so heavy, that the transport eats the worth.  The only reason I bid, was beacause I almost knew for sure that MK2 was gonna be mine, and I was gonna be there with my pickup anyhow.  I peeked inside, the boards are there, everything was plugged in, and a newer power supply was present, thats all I know at the present.

Please elaborate on the expansion of my MK2, if you could...

I assume you mean StreetFighter2?, (I really dont know, I spent my last teens and early to mid 20s in the ARMY (ZERO ARCADE TIME)<GRIN>  Maybe I should get the monitor straight and the power interupts squared away 1st, seeing how I already have a buyer.  Im hoping to just do a nice repair/turn around on this $230 investment.   Thats how im leaning ATM, and my teenagers want MK2 up and running ASAP.  Bouncing this thread out to restorations for each individual machines...........

A good place to start with the MK is a cap kit for the monitor. I'd bet that and a little adjusting would fix the problems with it.

Amen, Vee Thats where the mission lies.   I have the power stabled at 5.  My new Wells Gardner 25k7000 cap kit is enroute. I just played the game for 2 hours before the "lines" squashed", so I think P/S is good where I have it.  My buyer was begging for it already, "I grew up with that game".  Meanwhile, I have my teenagers saying "this is the one we should keep", and I have been having a blast myself.  Guy at work "buyer" is offering less than market, with a disclaimer "if something goes wrong, I wont know how to fix it"...      I'll have more peace fixing it for my boys. (if something goes wrong).   Then theres the wife, watching the bottom line..........So I need to do a good cap job, and make a profit (of some sorts) quick.  I work with 2000 people, so the market is there, but.....  I have to work with these peeps, and most of them have a probability of dissrurpting a good day.

This is a versitale cab, maybe I should keep it.   It could be a learning/experimenting platform.  I only have 250 into it.   I dunno.

By the way, this "refresh" has moved to "restorations".   Please post any comments there.........
