Millipede Marquee

Hi! I'm Carcayu, a member from the Arcade Forever forum, and I have vectorized and rasterized the Millipede marquee from joymonkey to improve the definition,and I'd like to share it to all the community. Here you can see the differences:










Option B corresponds to the original colors of the marquee, while in option A the colors have been adapted to the rest of the cabinet artwork for better coherence.

Looks nice, thanks for sharing this.  The .PNG files are great, but I'd love to get the vector files to be able to use as a basis for derived control panels, side art, etc.

Well, there's a section in the arcade forever forum, called "Arcade Forever Free Arts" in wich we restore and share cabinet artworks. We use passwords in the files shared in this section, and instead of reupload the same file, i used the same link. I don't see the problems of copying and pasting a pass, but i can reupload it without pass if you want.

You're welcome! The problem is i use for vectorizing it autocad (because i use that program a lot as an architect), and then i use photoshop to apply colors, so i dont have a "full vectorized" file, but i think you can do something with the vector magic program (it's in 300 dpi)

export the autocad as dxf, most vector programs can use it. appling colors won't be a problem

Why do you use passwords there? If it's "FREE" arts what's the purpose of the passwords?

I suppose it is to avoid pages in wich people use the links (even without reuploading it) and say it is upload or even made by him/her. It's the same when you download something with the pass "uploadedbyxxxx".

Again, i can't see the problem. It's free, because you don't have to pay for the pass, or even visit the page for knowing that pass. But, again, if you have any problem about copying and pasting a pass, i can reupload it without it.

I never thought to use Autocad for vectorizing.  I use it at work myself (Mech Engineer) but we are transitioning to Solidworks now.

I never thought to use Autocad for vectorizing.  I use it at work myself (Mech Engineer) but we are transitioning to Solidworks now. 

Maybe there are programs more specific for vectoriziing artworks (illustrator, for example), but i am tired about learning how to use programs  and obviously i have no need to learn how to draw in AutoCAD

If you ever do want to use an 'artwork specific' vector program, I use Inkscape which is a free, open source program.  It's not as powerful as Illustrator, but I found it easier to use as an amateur (fewer options = simpler but less powerful).  And Inkscape has a very nice, basic help system that really is nice for a beginner.

But then, I really haven't done any vectorization, either.  I just manipulated vector artwork that other people made available and added text, backgrounds and effects to put together my CP and Marquee.

Whenever I download anything with a password, very first thing I do is recompress without the password. I get why people want to do the whole password thing but it's actually very annoying. I have files dating back probably fifteen years or so. Data gets shuffled around a lot. New hard drives. New storage mediums. It's far too easy to lose passwords.

Or worse, the super annoying link to that compressed file only to find it's password protected and no easy way to discover what the password is because the forum where it would be is dead or, worse, unsearchable.

Most compressed files have fields that are specifically for comments or author ownership if that's an issue.
