Project #20 is done, I think it turned out pretty good, but I'm a semi-delusional ego-maniac, so it might actually suck...
Might be of interest to some though, so tadaaaa:

That has to be the oddest button layout I have ever seen.
Acceptance of Zen philosophy is marred slightly by the nagging thought that if all things are interconnected, then all things must be in some way involved with Pauly Shore.

Well, it's not for me, it was custom ordered, but personally, no, never been at all a fan of the fighters, too 'new skool' for me, well that and I never last more than 5 minutes with a real coin one.   :(

Well, I'll take it as a compliment  ??? although I have seen at least one a little stranger...ah here it is:  ;)

Seriously, this last one was requested that way.  If you look at the pics of the planning stage, it is set up in a 2X3 layout.  With the current layout, the fire button isn't hard to find (a common complaint in '6 black button' setups), missile command is easier to play, even defender has an easy access smart bomb button.  Personal preference for me is 4 buttons in a diamond with the 5th under the thumb.  (And sure, maybe the 6th for the anime fighters) :)

Zakk,

Project #20 hey... I have some catching up to do!

But first I'm stuck on trying to find all the possible 4/8-way ball-top joysticks and select the best for my needs. I haven't seen the joystick you used on this cab before. What is it? Does it do 8-way?

Cheers,
zero-one.

I think you mean the red ball top.  Well it's actually a dedicated 4-way wico leafswitch joystick.  The Happ ultimates make good work of 8-way games, but nothing beats a wico for 4 way.  I have used the wico 8 way sticks as both 4 and 8-way,  and they are pretty good all things considered.  You can adjust the sensitivity of the leafswitches to be a little less responsive, so that 4 way games work fairly well (pac-man etc).
