ok, ok hyperspin already
« on: May 26, 2011, 11:53:07 am »
Hi all , After days of deliberation, and testing, I now use hyperspin for my maricab..... looks fantastic, and works well, I have two questions..... 1 is there any easier to filter large list..... Example, when I used maximus arcade, I could easily edit my master play list, by using the preferences....... Hyperspin does not have that USEFUL feature....I have found that I have to scroll through my whole list, add the ones I want as favorites, then edit my list based on the favorites text file that is generated........ is there any other way? just curious............ and question 2: ledblinky works SOOOOOOOO much better with hyperspin, and no launch.bat errors like in maximus, only thing, when I return to the main menu, it does NOT revert back to the FE active animation (like it does in mala or maximus....... Did I miss something or is that just the way hyperspin rolls..... any help would be lovely...........Thanks Madison lastrega

I believe hyperspin has its own thing called hyperlist or something like that.  you can do some filtering using this I believe.  It also lets you use some existing files to do a conversion.  It's been a while for me since I went from hyperspin to groovymame....check out the hyperspin forums for help.  You'll find help over there for sure.

HS should return LEDBlinky to the FE Active animation after exiting a game. Turn on the Debug.log and Verbose options, run HS and a game or two, then email me the debug.zip file (in the ledblinky folder). I’ll take a look at your config.

When it comes to LED's; I'm really not one to answer the questions about.  I'm just now starting to work with LED's on my PINcab and have never worked with LEDBlinky or anything else other than the LEDWiz software.  I do know that there are many others running HyperSpin with working LED configs.

As far as ROM filtering; we have some interesting stuff coming in v2.0.  For the current version just search the HyperSpin forums.  There are several different ways to get the result that you seek.

thank you mr dazz, I like your software as well, I know that I am not supposed to ask when 2.0 will be out , so I wont..... but can ask one thing? will the new version, have a demo mode simular to maximus,(ie the ability to launch random games as a screensaver) so far that is the only feature that I really miss about maximus..... anyway off to the hyperspin forums to seek an easier way to shorten my list without having to manually remove my dumps.... thanks again.... this is the reason I choose hyperspin........you care:)

Could you also run HS and some games, then post the log.txt in the Hyperspin folder.

The HS log confirms what the LEDBlinky log shows (and what you're seeing) - HS is not sending the "GameQuit" command to blinky. I'm not sure if this has something to do with your HS configuration, but I think you need to post something on the HS forums. By the way, what version of HS are you using?

I am currently using version 1.0.... I will ask dazz if he knows anything....... I use a shift command to exit maybe that has something to do with it? wierd thing is, I had maximus set up, it worked fine with the same shift command ( i use shift and my pause button to execute the EXIT key.......Just checked does the same when I use a keyboard and EXIT...... My mame is not using hyperlaunch ( so I can make setting adjustment that get saved).... so I can rule out a hyper launch issue, when I switch emus or switch to or from favorites, the animation works and then goes to active....... so hmmmmmmm..... perplexing huh?

The shift key may have something to do with it - I'll have to test that tonight. If the shift key does turn out to be the issue, HS will have to be modified with a fix. But it's strange that nobody else has noticed this problem (or maybe exiting a game with a shift key is just not a common configuration).

As I recall, HS sends the GameQuit command to LEDBlinky whenever it regains focus (like after exiting from the emulator). Try this; after exiting out of mame and back to HS when it does not return to the FE Active animation, try alt-tabbing to some other app and then back to HS (forcing HS to regain focus). Does this kick in the animation?

Sorry Mr arzoo, that did not work neither.... However, I did set it to display all game lights as you browse, and after it displayed , it then went back to the active FE animation, does that help you any? I think it is a focus issue as well?

I think this is something the HS dev is going to have to look into.
