Dig Dug Trailer?
« on: August 30, 2003, 10:50:28 pm »
I meant to ask this weeks ago:

Is there anywhere on the internet where I could find the original Dig Dug trailer that they ran in theatres?  I've read about it but was always curious to see it.

I got that info from a) the book ARCADE FEVER  (Here's the Amazon link if you want to see what I'm talking about: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0762409371/qid=1062393462/sr=8-1/ref=sr_8_1/102-2634424-8276148?v=glance&s=books&n=507846

and b) the history.dat file.

Anyway I looked everywhere on the net and Kazaa and no such luck.

I remember seeing it at a drive-in waaaaaay back when. If my memory serves (and my passion for beer sometimes prevents servitude) it featured a typical 80's band which reminded me of Devo singing "DIG Dug!". None of the characters were featured, but the ground would swell as though there was something or someone tunneling below. The porch where the band was playing had the slats below them move as though something was beneith their feet.

If anyone does have a copy of this, I'd love to see it again.

Never saw it, but I used to PLAY Dig Dug AT a theater!  For about a week one summer, my sister and I would go in and ask to play the machine.  At first they didn't want to let us in without a ticket, but they got used to us coming every day...got really good at it as I remember...ah, the 80's!  A time when just about every teen flick featured at least one arcade scene...
