Finished the cabinets!
« on: August 29, 2003, 04:16:31 pm »
A friend of mine and myself built cabs at the same time, we finally finished this week.  Thanks to all the posters here while I lurked over the past 6 weeks.  This place was hands down the best resource for building ideas/help.  Check it out at...

Thanks again,

For the love of Mike what do you think the "Project Announcements" section is for?

Good job by the way.

Thanks!

They were pretty simple actually:

Route and cut the panel to allow recessing the joysticks and trackball plate.  Cut and build the box then apply formica...

Cut the Lexan to fit the panel, cutting only holes for the joysticks and trackball...

We had the graphics custom printed 1" bigger than we wanted to allow for construction/printing error.  First we installed the joystick bases (w/o the joysticks themselves) and trackball plate.  Then we applied the graphics to the top of the panel using 3M adhesive spray, useed a razor to cut out the holes...

Put the lexan over the art, then screw in all the buttons and install the joysticks and spinner...

Then apply the T-Molding, that was about it...

Are those based on Lusid's design?  (I know the cp is not)

Very nice, did you make the graphic? What did you use to make the graphic? Also, where
did you get it printed?  I am looking to do some artwork for my cab and am interested in
how you did this, if you don't mind my asking.

Thanks

Very Nice!

Congratulations.

I am assuming that the one cab's marquee, where it kinda looks like NTRY is MAME in another language.

You can get the photoshop artwork file at the download section on my site (see profile link to left).  The blue marquee is a photoshop file with all the elements in layers, so you can remove the text to get what is on his control panel.  I have been thinking about doing the same for my control panel, but being too lazy I'm glad someone else did it so I can see how it looks  :)   Yet another thing on the to-do list..

btw ... Looks good Jarozi.  Thx for the email too.

I too was going to angle my joys liek you have for paleyr one and player two, just so that you are facing the screen and not turning your head.  Do you think it works out fine?

Anterys is just a sweet name that a friend of mine came up with.  I wanted to give it an original name.  We got the Marquees printed at Kinko's and the CP artwork at EMDKay (http://www.emdkay.net).

As for the joystick angle, I think I would prefer that they be straightened out.  I am getting used to the angle, but it seems more intuitive for them to be lined up with the rest of the cab.
