Off topic ebay question
« on: May 04, 2011, 06:44:44 am »
So I need a PCI card as the stupid board I have has no AGP or PCI-E slot, as it's only for MAME a basic card will be fine.

I bought a PCI card online after reading this auction...

ATI RADEON X300SE 128MB VGA + TVO GRAPHICS CARD FOR SALE

Bought in error, as I have an AGP slot, not a PCI slot in my PC.
Fully working. I have tested it on a friends computer.

No returns. Please make sure that this card will fit in your PC! Don't make the same error I did!!

when it arrived it was a PCI-E card

What is my next step? contact the seller demanding my money back? (only cost £10 but I have a very limited budget)

Unless anyone on here wants a swap, I'm getting tired of ebay and messing around  :-[

I'm just waking up and having my first sips of coffee, but I can't seem to find what the problem is here? From the post you needed a PCI and you bought what appears to be a PCI. Was it not a PCI?

sorri I wasn't too clearn, sneaking on here at work and posted without proof reading!

When delivered the card was not PCI it was pci express (PCI-E) a different connector completly.

after reading the item description what is my next step? demand a refund, put back on the bay?

I would email the guy and tell him that his auction was misleading and see his reaction.  It may just be easier to put it back on ebay, if you're lucky you may even make a few dollars on the deal.

In the future, I would suggest researching what you are buying first.   A 2 second google search would have revealed that the card is indeed PCI-E....

Think I'll just pop it back on ebay and absorb the loss.
I'm just really gutted for not doing my research, I do with everything, but stupidly trusted the auction details and have paid the price, it's really hit me for some reason, having slight personal problems lately and such a minor issue with my mame cab has really set me back mentally.

We live and learn I guess

Where are you located?  I assume in the UK since you referenced pounds.  You may throw up a thread in B/S/T and see if anyone has an old PCI card that they'd send to you for the cost of shipping.  I know I have a bunch of old stuff that I'll never throw away because I may need it some day.  I figure most of us are dorks like that.   :lol

Yeah UK

I know I'm being completly immature about it  :hissy: and I have no idea why but it's really upset me- pah, I'll be alright later, been reading all about frogger, battlezone and asteroids to keep my mind of things  :lol

I'll bung a thread up on B/S/T - good idea, you never know!
