It's funny how seeing uber nerds can ruin an experience.
My friend and I were reading a comic called Y the Last Man and .. some comic about fairy tale creatures in the real world (Fables?). We had recently gotten into it shortly after finishing college. It was pretty cool to be able to be nerdy with someone (a girl too) and it was fine. But then this super nerd, (red curly hair, chubby and short, glasses, sweater, sounded like a stereotype from the simpsons) started correcting someone about a statement they made about a world or warcraft, comics, or magic.. something like that. Then we walked away and ran into another one! We ran for the door.
You know... I feel the same way about the super video game invested kids who argue about games and talking about what they did in a video game in detail. I used to do that too, back when it was snes vs sega, up to ps1. We'd gather and talk about our game playing. Now it's more like
Friend "Hey, you played MvsC 3?"
Me "Yup, pretty bad ass, the controllers are a little weird"
Friend "Yeah, wanna go get a beer?"
Okay maybe not, but the point is that we move on to other stuff.. how's the gf, dating anyone?, work, movies, funny stories that happened recently. Don't get me wrong, we play.. just don't talk about it too much.
