AdvanceMame, Ubuntu, and Pole Position
« on: April 17, 2011, 11:47:59 am »
Hey all, goofy question here...

When I first put my cabinet together, I was running the DOS version of AdvanceMame (I believe version 0.80; I know it was an older one) on Windows ME.  In Pole Position, when you hit the button to shift gears, you would see a big LO or HI on the screen, so you would know which gear you were in.

Eventually, I rebuilt the machine using Ubuntu, and I'm now running a much newer version of AdvanceMame, but compiled on Linux.  Unfortunately, the gear overlay graphic doesn't show up anymore.

Does anybody know anything about this?  Is it configurable?  Was it a code change that was made on purpose?

It was a baseline MAME change. You can see the development line at MAWS.
