remember, its not size that matters... hehe at least not in the kilobyte size that is... I did a quick google search for subzero, and sorted by large images... the first couple are under 300k, but the resolution is about 1700 x 2000 and others that are a little bigger and a little smaller... at 1700x2000 that image would be ok printed out at 17" x 20". and it would look good. You dont need a 300 dpi image as most plotters only need a 100-150 dpi image. That 300 dpi image of the same thing plotted out the SAME size would look almost the same. And I am talking about a nice HP Inkjet Plotter. When I do renderings from 3D Studio Max, I only render most of my models at 3600x2400 and print them out 24x36. They look no different rendered at 7200x4800 and printed 24x36. etc.. etc.. So use the 100 dpi method as a rule of thumb and you will be good to go...
