Sega System 2 Emulation and Linking of cabinets

Has anyone used Nebula or any other Sega System 2 emulator to link multiple cabinets together?   
Is this possible for playing at least 2 linked games?

I have seen video of 2 instances running on the same machine, but not playing linked.....

I want to play at least 2 people doing Daytona, head to head arcade style.

Well, from a practical standpoint, with that much space and hardware involved it might be easier and cheaper to get two real daytona cabs.  Just a thought. 

I haven't tried those games specifically, but in general any multiplayer that's killerea based is kinda glitchy.

While that is a good point, I would like 2 cabs that can play a lot of games. They may also be smaller cabinets then the original.

I do have an original pair of Virtual On Machines - those take up an incredible amount of space.

I actually have a lot of the parts to do Virtual On 2. I have the Naomi's the link boards - 1 control panel. I need one more and the 2 carts.

As far as I understand things, it should be no problem to link two (or more) PC's running the M2 emulator. I.e just add the different IP addresses in the network config files.

By the way, I'm just about to do the same thing. I have plans for doing 2 (or maybe more) down scaled desktop generic SEGA M2 driving cabinets.
Of course, dedicated SEGA Rally and/or Daytona cabinets would have been the best alternative, as long as you have space and money. But how realistic is that?

I think you would be surprised at how "cheap" you can get some of those machines. The week before I got my Virtual On  there was a set of them for $50 in LA. I could not get them, but it does happen from time to time.

I have seen people pay less then $500 for twin cabinets.

They do eat up a ton of space though. That is why they usually go kind of cheap - most people will not have the space.

Yup, and if you are going to use them as mame cabs, you don't need the boards, so that makes them even cheaper.

Unfortunately a SEGA Rally twin goes for approx $3000 here in Sweden. All arcade cabinets are more expensive over here since the market is much smaller. Some games are really rare and hard to find.
I could sell my left arm to get a dedicated Spy Hunter or Karate Champ. So it is heart aching to see plenty of them at Ebay in the states going cheap as well.
