ok, mame question here
« on: March 18, 2011, 06:48:31 pm »
I have an aimtrak, turbotwist 2, and a trackball all hooked up. I know how to correctly set up each divice in mame. For example i'll set up the aimtrak gun under tab/player one settings/ x axis and y axis it will show as  lets say mouse 3. It will work great no problems. Same for spinner (mouse 4)and trackball (mouse 5). But after i shut down and reboot each device comes up as a different mouse "number". Like i had the gun first set up and mame told me it was mouse 3, but after a restart the gun wont work unless i do the setup again and now it tells me the gun is mouse 5... :dizzy:. I'm not unplugging and switching around usb plugs either. How can i keep them from changing mouse id numbers? My setup is much less impressive if i have to set up my stuff each time i turn it on   :dunno
Thanks
Bill

are they in a hub, or dedicated ports on the pc itself?

I went out of my way to not use any hub. I have 6 ports on the motherboard and a pci card with 4 more ports.

I am having the same problem with my aimtracks.. When I reboot usually 1 of the 2 guns will work in mame. I have to unplug all usb devices, plug in the 2 aimtracks first, then everything else. Doing that fixes the problem, but its annoying to do it every time i reboot. I have the 2 aimtracks configured in the aimtrack utility as device 1 and device 2. All my usb devices are connected to the motherboard.

I was having the same usb issues with my 2x spinners, 2x aimtraks, and trackball, but drventure has made a program to help with usb devices being reassigned in mame.
There is supposed to be a way to setup mame with a device name but I can't seem to find it, so until then, I'll use this. IMHO the windows mame build should have the ability to "lock" a usb device to a monkier ie. "Mouse 3", but like I said I can't seem to find it.
