Just got my arcade monitor going  it's a sanyo 25" tube + Wei-Ya 826HR + wells-gardner frame.....so far so good. (not bad for a first timer)

Problem I'm having is overscan, I have the horizontal and vertical adjustments turned all the way in and the image is still too large for the screen.  I also moved the H and V jumpers over and it got bigger  :'(

I purposely bought a 826hr because I was initially going to use a 27" tube, but damaged it trying to flip it over...these things are considerably more heavier than a 25" tube.

But since i had the chassis on hand I decided to go ahead and try it. I already sent a email to alva to see if they have a 825hr in stock because it would be more correct for my current application.

But I wanted to ask beforehand if there is an adjustment on these chassis I don't know about that can fix my problem.

I don't know if this site is dying or what because it takes quite a bit to get someone to respond in these threads. I guess I am spoiled by the car restoration community because I can ask a question on those sites and people jump into the threads with responses almost instantly...and genuinely want to share information and discuss.  Different things I guess...
Here's a picture of the monitor

Um.  Not trying to pick a fight here, I swear.  I can't help you with the monitor because I'm totally ignorant of these things.  I have received some amazing advice and sincere generosity of effort on this forum, however.  It is fair to say that the monitor for my nephews would NEVER have been fixed without this forum.

That said, I'm guessing you're running up against a few things:

1.  The car restoration community is probably much larger on the whole.
2.  You seem to answer your own posts before others get an opportunity to answer.  I'm not sure here, but it sounds like a decent amount of posters are from England and a decent amount from the US.  It's possible people are sleeping while you're waiting for a response.
3.  Hate to bring up a potentially sore subject, but I'm guessing that you've offended some on here by removing your other thread.  I know I was very interested in following it as it might have been something that I would have liked to try in the future.  I know that you didn't feel that one of the responses was fair, yet it partly seems that you might have more of an interest in taking information than sharing it.

Hopefully I didn't offend you as that was not my intent.

All the best.
Chris

no offense taken, I guess I'm missing the "family" and willing to help atmosphere I get from from the car community. You right it's apples to oranges and a totally different animal. I guess I've gotten spoiled and take it for granted. But I feel even before that thread I have to "pry" key information from members. Simple information that they can help with a few moments of thier time..... At least that's the way it feels.

I took the info down because of the same reason mentioned above, It seemed like I was posting pictures, fishing for information and help. I get someone trying to tell me the information is wrong...instead of offering legitimate constructive advice....Like I'm an idiot. So yes I took offense to that because I'm trying to learn, not slapped on the wrist. Plus I damaged the tube trying to flip it...it fell out of the chassis (my bad), so the thread wasn't going to be finished anyways.

In the end I got this far with the same chassis, a new (to me) 25" tube...I didn't burn nothing up, I didn't electrocute myself...and all went well.  :)

Never thought about the UK thing, it does make sense because it does seem like arcades are more popular overseas than they are in the USA so the time thing is a major factor. They are sleeping when I'm up and vice versa.

No biggie though, no offense taken and I'm not upset...its all good

It's not an ideal solution, but you could use software to shrink the image if you only plan on doing emulation and can't figure something more elegant out.

There's a few utilities out there that can alter the video signal to make the screen smaller.  Advancemame's ADVV is the one I use.  I then copy the modes from it and install it into a custom Soft 15khz installation.

Nice job getting that far and good luck the rest of the way.

Would changing the screen resolution help?  How about softres if you need different resolutions than you have available?

As always, talking out my arse....

ADVV comes with advancemame when you download the windows binary.  At the command line navigate to the advancemame directory and run Advcfg, and set up your monitor.  Then you can run ADVV from the command line again to resize the screen for each resolution.

Before jumping into that you might try a program called Powerstrip.  It has a nice GUI that will let you resize your desktop.  You can see how far you can get with that before going to the next step.
