Blogging with 1&1

I'm setting up a blog for my wife and me to write about my daughter.  My web host (1&1) offers a 1-click install of Wordpress, but I installed it and the templates/customization features appear to be extremely limited.  I have the impression that Wordpress has near infinite options for templates/customization thanks to its enormous following and the nature of open source software, so I'm not sure why 1&1's implementation seems so limited.  I assume that I can customize it however I want by directly accessing the installation via FTP, but when I FTP into my site I don't see the Wordpress installation anywhere, so I'm not exactly sure where 1&1 installed it.  I'm guessing I don't have access to the files.

Does anyone using 1&1 know where I would find the current installation (I know at least one person here uses 1&1).  If I can't find it, I suppose I'll just delete it and try to install the whole thing manually, but it's already installed, so I figure it'd be a lot easier if I could just find that.

Not sure about 1&1's hosting. I use them as Domain Registrar, but I use ServerGrid for actual hosting (I find them to be a little more flexible, and they're only, like 6-7$ a month.

Didn't have any issues at all setting up Wordpress on Servergrid servers...

As I recall though, 1&1 online support has been pretty quick to get back to me about issues, you might shoot em a message.

I doubt this will prove useful to anyone, but since I brought it up I figure it's only polite to post the resolution.  Found this fantastic guide.  Haven't used it yet, but judging by the number of comments after the guide, I think it's gonna get me up and running.
