Hi,
I've got a Pentranic 1025 (25") inside of a mame cabinet I'm building. I using an ArcadeVga card as a video interface. The monitor is almost identical to this one:

Once I finally had all the wiring in and everything setup inside the cab, I powered on the monitor and PC. The boot-up screens and Windows welcome screen came up fine, but the image was flipping. When I started to turn the V-hold knob on the remote adjustment board, the image immediately shrank to a single line running left to right across the middle of the monitor. There MAY have been a puff of smoke, but I did not see any, just kind of a metallic smell from the back when I powered everything off.
From hours of googling, I found that I could have any number of problems. This website
http://www.repairfaq.org/samnew/tvfaq.htm was surprisingly informative, but put me no nearer to a solution.
The other thing I should probably mention is that I am scared to death of poking around the monitor components, nor are my soldering skills up to par for a task like this (I think).
My best guess is that the knob that controls v-hold is toast, but I haven't a clue how to fix that.
I'm contacting the arcade where I bought the cabinet in the morning, but if it's something I can attempt to fix myself rather than pay someone, that would be obviously a lot better. There are 1 or 2 local repair places that I can call, but any help or opinions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
David
