The 1084s has stereo speakers (thus the "s") and is RGB capable at 15.75khz, so it should work with the ArcadeVGA card without too much trouble.

I think it may also have composite and LUMA/CHROMA (separated S-vid) inputs, but will require an adapter if it does and you want to use S-Video.

I've got one I use as a test monitor.

There are several version of each of the 1084's.

The one I have takes positive vertical sync and negative horziontal sync.

I just built a cable with a 7404 inverter in it to handle the sync correction.

Looks great with a avga card.

this guy used one

It's connected via S-Video, not VGA or anything fancy.

Which is stupid because you can use RGB on these monitors as long as it's 15 kHz of course. I've got two of them (one I use for testing, the other may go in a cocktail table.....) Both are the Philips built' version, they don't make stuff like that anymore I tell you. These little monitors rock :)

Agreed.

Small CRTs last practically forever.  My best monitors to this day are little Sony professional video monitors.

And who can forget Zenith black and white 13" tv's?  Toughest.TV.ever.

Since this cabinet uses a plain old PCI ATI video card, I don't see how else I would connect it apart from S-Video. Mind you, I haven't really searched about the possibilities with the 1084...

What model of video card is it?  You might be able to use soft 15khz.

ATI Rage Pro Turbo PCI. Though I don't know how to connect the 1084 to the VGA port...

There are several versions of the 108x

Some have a 9 Pin D-Sub Input, others have a 6 Pin DIN Input, again others have an 8 Pin DIN Input and even others have a SCART Plug.
On the PC side you'll most likely want to use VGA output.
In any case you'll have to build a cable. Either solder one yourself, or "cut" an old VGA extension cable.

As for your graphics card...
Well with a Rage Pro you CAN use it with VGA if you are running DOS (AdvanceMAME) or Linux, with Windows however you're pretty much boned VGA wise.

You could try to get a Radeon 9200 PCI somewhere instead. Pretty cheap nowadays.
