Can anyone tell me how to load MDF into a truck? I just cant wrap my brain around it...

When compared side to side with original MDF jokes from guys like pinballjim and Malenko this one is sub-par.  Try to make them yourself rather than piggy back someones else's craptastic job.  This poor joke really ruins the look of your post.

I can't believe the nitpicking going on here. I'm as cautious as anybody else when it comes to restoring and shopping out machines, but in a darker room where pins are generally played, you'll never notice a minor difference in a color's shade or if a gradient is slightly less pronounced.

Yeah, but you are pretty likely to notice the reproduction plastics exploding across your playfield when the ball farts on them, which has been my personal experience with CPR product.

Now that would be annoying, I agree. I haven't tried their repro plastics before. Generally I hunt down NOS sets.

Heres a much closer look at just how far off the color blues are.  You can see that Most of the colors are somewhat close.  Even though they are Not accurate to how the game is supposed to look... you could get away with it.  However, the navy blue is not able to be dealt with... its just too much of a spectrum jump.

You can also see they opted with 5 colors instead of 6.  Probably to save money.  They omitted the red pool, and changed it to orange... and their orange is putrid and ugly as well.

You can see in each blue, the red, green, and blue values stacked up.  They are numerically way the hell off.  This isnt some simple 2 or 3 shade difference.

Also overlayed some picture parts on the new piece so you can see a closer comparison.

First, this isnt a small color shift.  Its a HUGE shift.

Second, you can EASILY see the difference, no matter What kind of lighting.  Dont know if you realize this... but slingshots are actually LIT UP with lightbulbs!   Ugg.

Its like people are completely oblivious to anything at all.   ::)

And final example,

Here we draw a simple picture with both Palettes.  Left side is the original palette.

One can easily see that the picture changes drastically in look and feel with the
wrong palette colors.   The original palette colors match each other much better, and thus look good together.

Whereas the alternate crap palette has huge contrasted shift in colors, and many of them do not look very good together.

The atmosphere and mood of the picture also changes.

Click it to enlarge it to get the real idea.  As in its small form, things change a lot due to the pixels being closer together.

I,  for one,  would would be less than satisfied if I paid $600+ for a repro playfield that doesnt match at least 98%+...

The very first picture is showing an original -vs- CPR remake.

On a single plastic, I counted over 12 huge errors, such as missing windows and missing shading on objects.

The latter pictures of the slingshots, Im not sure who ran those remakes.  I know it was before the full plastics run that CPR did.  However they may have also do those too.  Not sure.

All I can say, is that you can see, especially from the last picture I drew, that even a small shift in colors can produce a drastic effect.

I know not all people have the artistic eye.. but I believe especially that people who get a repro that is drastically different are going to notice, and not be too happy about it.

Especially when they pay huge money to revamp their machines, and then possibly Lower the value of their machines, with a repro part.

Its downright criminal that amateurs are at the helm of such an operation.
Its like putting the Janitor in charge of the School.

Only qualified artists should be at the helm of such projects.
(Heck, they might be able to get hold of the original artwork files too)

We live in a free market. Why don't you go hire some professional artists, buy the best equipment available for producing the playfields and plastics sets, and open up a distribution network. I'll look forward to you 100% faithful reproductions.

...and they'll sell for a loss at $1,000 a pop.

Is that an actual condition you have?  If it is, I was not aware, I thought it was just jim shooting his mouth off.

Their playfields don't sell for $600 retail.  At least none of the playfields I bought, including the two level and special editions, sold for that much.

 ???

My apologies, jim.  I'm doing too many things at once.  I looked back and it was Flake.  I assumed it was just random net trash talking.  If it's an actual health condition, my apologies to Xiaou2 as well.  He's right that it's weak to make fun of actual health problems.

Your right Xiwhateverthehellyournameis....I'd put it right up there with some of the big issues of today....say for instance trying to find clean gas station restrooms on your way to work when your IBS flares up.

What in god's name are you talking about?  I wasnt insinuating that Xiwhatever had IBS.....I in fact have IBS.  I was simply trying to illustrate that that this plastic business is not a very big issue.

Frankly I'm not even sure why Xiwhatever made the comment about you making fun of people's health problems.  No where in any post do I get the impression that Xiwhatever's health conditions (known or unknown) were being made fun of.   :dizzy:

Haha.  Then this whole conversation sucks.  I read your post as a joke that he's the type that would end up with IBS over colormatches.  If you are the one with IBS, and Xiaou2 is not, he's being as much a jackass as always, and somehow the only person wronged here is that I winged pinballjim and made him a Unitarian.

How did we go from amateurish repros to religion and shitting our pants?

Shitting our pants is just under the surface of every major issue.

2. Chad stop being such a vaj, I dont want you sassy when I call someone lactose intolerant in a future post.

Seriously tho Xiaou2 is right those plastics he has sucks & I would be pissed too. Everything else he said is wrong & self righteous however.

OKies, well I missed Flakes lame comment, but then again, CWT added to the toilet fest as well.. so its pretty much crap no matter which way you turn.  :P  heh

Anyways, its not actually IBS.  Its extreme food allergies, such as gluten/wheat, and dairy... and others Ive yet to figure out...  which can occasionally lead to an explosive session in the restroom.    Which all equates to me being malnourished due to poor food/vitamin absorption, which equates to no energy, and overall life suckage.

Still, its probably a step up from IBS.  Ive met someone who has it, and hes a lot worse off than me.  Very thin and frail since getting it.

My condition has some hope... if I can figure out all the allergies, and stick to a strict diet of  'not so yummy'.

Great thread!  ::)

FWIW, I have received my playfield and plastics. It is definitely good news / bad news.

The bad news is that the purple on the playfield is as wrong as PBJ said. Worse news is that the colour match between the purple on the playfield and on the plastics is way off.

The good news is that they are both WAY better than what I have and I think I will be satisfied with the end result.

If I was the usual pinhead (e.g. completely anal and never satisfied), I think I would be pissed, but I am satisfied and look forward to the swap.

I seem to have misplaced my camera, so will have to wait to post pics of the differences.

I've never seen an F2K in person.  How close are they originally?

Looking forward to seeing the pics... The playfield I'm on the waiting list for is Pinbot. It doesn't have a huge color palette, so maybe it'll be OK.

My current ones are far, far worse because the plastics are so faded.

OK, this is somewhat strange ... I just brought the playfield and plastics upstairs and, in bright daylight, the purple colour match is fine. Blue not so much, but not terrible.

The opposite was true in the relative darkness of the gameroom/shop.

Don"t forget that it will have a "yellow" light cast across it if you use 44"s,..... very possibly change blues to say green?
Nonetheless I wouldn"t overthink, It"s awsome!!!!

I like the darker blue on the plastics better, but I'm not familiar with the shade of the original playfield. Once its all together and you're seeing it lit, its going to look great. Thanks for kind of laying my fears to rest!

The new stuff is completely beautiful.

The colours might not match to the originals, but they are ... really shiny ... and really pretty ...

And my boys are SOOOO excited about the project -- it is the first resto project that I am letting them help with.
