Anybody know what these were called ?
« on: August 23, 2003, 03:28:48 pm »
Going waaay off topic here but does anybody remember those toy pens that were filled with water and each one had a different water type game in them ? They were real fat (about the same circumference as a c or d size battery) and the cylindrical body was see through and filled with water. I remember the one I used to have had a plastic fish inside and then there were a bunch of smaller fish and the idea was to tilt the pen back and fourth and try to get all the small fish inside the mouth of the big fish but there were several pens with different games inside of them. Oh yeh, they did actually write too. They came out in the mid seventies. Somebody told me that they were called "Water Writers" or "Wacky Water Writers" or something like that. Does anybody remember the exact name of them and what toy company made them ? I tried a vintage toy message board but nobody heard of them so I figured I'd try here. I'm trying to find them on Ebay but I don't know what they're actually called. ??? Thanks for any help. :)

Thanks Mike. I do know about floaty pens but thats not what these are. Kinda the same idea because they do have liquid (water) in them but they were huge. Almost as big around as a d size battery and 6 or 7" long and they came empty and you had to fill them up with water and either a little baking soda or dish detergent (can't remember which) to make the game pieces inside move properly. I did try that site that Eric Ruud gave me but no results. :( I loved them as a kid and I wanted to get one for my niece cause she loves to draw and I usually give her some kind of writing instruments for her birthday like those flourecent markers that show up on black paper or similar novelty pens/pencils/markers and she always loves them. Well now it looks like Uncle Spidermonkey is in a pickle this year unless I just buy something different all together. ::). Thanks for the help though guys. :)

Were they part of the "Wonderful Waterfuls" line of water games from Milton Bradley?  It seems they may have been made by Tomy for MB.

Eric they were the same idea as those wonderful waterfulls but in the form of a pen. I did have one of those too though. It was the water tic tac toe one. I think its still up in my mothers attic too. ;D I know that my pen version isn't because it got stolen out of my desk in 3rd grade. >:(. Otherwise I'd probably still have it with the rest of my toys in moms attic. ::)

I'm pretty sure they were called WACKY WATER WRITERS...

I had one that had a small blue submarine in it, and you'd tilt the pen and try to catch "rings" on the periscope of the submarine.

It never occurred to me to take it to school filled with Vodka or something :P

Yeah, Wacky Water Writers seems to stick...I think thats what was written on the cap.

I know this isn't what you're asking, but this post made me remember these pens called Blood Suckers.  They were shaped like vampire bats and they had a big clear chamber on their back.  When you tilted them, they would fill up with a red fluid that looked like blood.  Anybody else remember these?  Anyway, sorry for butting into the thread, it just made me remember these.

Butt in all you want. ;D Its not like this is an extremely important thread anyhow. I've pretty much given up on trying to find the ones I'm talking about. I've done a search on Ebay every day for about a month and came up with nothing. At least I know what they're definately called now so maybe I'll find em on Ebay someday. :-\
