Has anyone ever used the glue-on wood veneer? I need to build some racks for my studio gear and am debating using MDF with a wood veneer over top. Share some experiences! I think I might make a small cab for my fiance's mom's house in a woody finish to match their furniture [they have lots of grandchildren, none of them are mine]. Veneer is looking pretty good for that, too.

I used some preglued veneer from Rockler to repair the front of my buffet project when I started it.

It was VERY easy to use, just don't sand on it much once it's placed (ugh).

Basically, it's like a big sticker, you cut it to size (or maybe a bit bigger), peel the backing off, stick it down, and trim to fit.

Then finish out just like wood.

You can also buy pre veneered mdf in various types of course...

unfortunately my only local options are pre-veneered plywoods that are expensive for the nice stuff, and fake woodgrained particle boards. The appeal of the stick-on veneers [iron on, glue on and sticker on] is based mostly on sticking it on after the pieces are cut and then flush-trimming to size. The damaged edges are almost non-existent when flush trimming with a router, and the ability to use screws under the veneer is really a bonus as well. I'll give it a shot and when it's been done I'll report my findings.

Does anyone know where I can get cheap glue on wood veneer? The Home Depot and Lowes near me don't have it. (They only have the edge banding).
