Mamewah: Best NES emulator
« on: August 22, 2003, 05:24:22 am »
What is please the best NES emulator (to be used with Mamewah) ? Would you have the Mamewah settings that go with ?

By the way, would you have (is there a place on the net with this info) the list of Mamewah best emulator for each model (Genesis, SNES, Atari VCS, ColecoVision, Intellivision, Nes, MasterSystem...) with the settings that go with them ?

Thanks very much

I find FCEUltra to be my preferred NES emulator because of its high rom compatability, although you cannot remap the exit key to Esc.  VirtuaNES will allow Esc on exit and is also apparantly quite good.

As for "best" emulators for other systems, it depends on your needs and preference.

I use all of the following in Mamewah without a problem:

SNES - ZsnesW
N64 - Project64
Gameboy/GBC/GBA - VisualBoyAdvance
Mastersystem - MekaW
Genesis - GensFE
Atari 2600 - Z26

I have links to the remapped key versions of Z26, GensFE and ZsnesW at my site here if you need them.  These are the ones posted here in the Software Forum a few weeks back, which will exit with Escape or have default Mame keys.

I use virtuaNes.  It is very nice and allows you to remap the esc key.

Here are the mamewah settings I use for it:

Code: [Select]
;EMULATOR OPTIONS
Emulator Title = Nintendo
Logo Image Filename = G:\Emulators\Arcade\mamewah\nes\nes.gif
'No Snapshot' Image Filename = G:\Emulators\Arcade\mamewah\nes\nesNoSnap.png
Emulator Executable = G:\Emulators\NES\virtuanes\virtuanes.exe
Default Options =
Extra Options #1 =
Extra Options #2 =
Show DOS Box = 0
Send ROM Path = True
Use Long Filenames = True
Send ROM Extension = True
DAT Filename =
NMS Filename =
CatVer Filename =
ROM Path = G:\Emulators\NES\US ROMS
ROM Extension = nes
List Generation Method = 0
Artwork #1 Image Path = G:\Emulators\NES\screens

You can set ESC to exit in the windows version. First, setup the emulator and controls as you want them. Then open your virtuanes.ini and edit this line
