33 inch showcase cab: MAME?
« on: January 03, 2011, 07:53:48 pm »
Scored a nice 33 inch showcase cab for free with working monitor and two player control panel. Should I mame it or just throw a xxx in 1 board like a blue elf?
Also does anyone know if its posible to convert an airsoft gun into a light gun with recoil?
Whats your thoughts.

those things are huge. What I did with mine is I threw away the entire monitor section and just kept the CP section  I then put all my MAME guts in there and pushed it up against a wall. Then I mounted a flat screen monitor on the wall.  This way you get a full size Arcade CP that only takes up approx 2 feet of your room ;)

Make sure you can sell it first. The market in my neck of the woods is awful. If it's currently working, how about put a game in it that people would like more and sell it like that for a few hundred.

See guy who i got it from threw a blue elf 2 in it and sold it for 800, I like building mame arcades but can i go any higher if i make it a 4 player, with aimtrak guns? Keeping old CRT and will buy card from andy to get right res.

Around here, $800 seems to be the ceiling for multi-arcades regardless of what it does.

You may need a new CP if you try and turn it into 4 players.  My Showcase cab control panel is too small for 4 players.  It may be an easy fix though.

how about some pics of the cabinet?  i picked up a similar cabinet for free a while back, however the monitor did not work.  i ended up installing a 27" CRT tv and mame, made a new 4 player panel and have been very happy with it....even though it takes up a good bit of space in my house

I took it off and know i have to remake the top because it was already modified from past users. So i can make it fit i believe.

Ill try getting some pics soon. the monitor works, i made the guy show me before picking it up. They are really nice cabs but just way to big for me.
