Daphne 99.7 upgrading to 1.0
« on: December 24, 2010, 05:06:39 pm »
Hey guys I am in the process of updating Daphne 99.7 to 1.0.  I was just testing some things out.  I put my dragons lair video files in the correct folder, but it still insists on downloading this stuff with the daphne loader.  I have no problem with that...My thing is I don't have my Thayer's disc either.  Also I am not seeing Space Ace.  I have both of my Dragon's Lair discs though.

I am going to be updating to Hyperspin and it looks easiest to setup with the newest version of Daphne.  How do I take my current files that I have from 99.7 and incorporate them into the 1.0 install?  Would I just extract the Daphne 1.0 zip file over the current version of Daphne that I have?

When you run Daphne loader you have to configure it and to use your own files instead of the downloaded ones under Virtual Laserdisc options choose the drop down for "No, I will install any missing video/audio files manually"

then under Mpeg Framefiles location browse to where the framefiles are located on your PC.  You still have to make sure the framefiles has the right paths pointing to where your mpegs are.

Thanks for the reply man.  One more thing is that for all the games? Or just each individual laser disc game? See I have all the games except like three.  Like I know I don't have Interstellar and two other games...So if I did the DaphneLoader download thing for the games I don't have what folder does it save those to? Like I know my 99.7 Daphne has a folder called vldp or something...Does Daphne 1.0 default that to a different name?

I guess once it does download those three games I don't have I can manually set them up that is if each game is separate.  Like I don't want the loader to download stuff for the games I already have.  LOL! Sorry for all the questions I setup my Mame cab about 2-3 years ago, and I am going to be installing Hyperspin soon.  I am really pumped for Hyperspin 2.0 to come out.

You may be able to disable the downloading in Daphne loader under preferences. I think Daphne puts the down loaded files in the same
place as Daphne loader but under another folder called vldp inside where Daphne is. I think it only downloads the games that work but not
all the laserdiscs that are available. If you are looking for DL or SA or TQ you would need the discs from digital leisure to verify that you own them before
Daphne 1.0 will let you play the video files that were auto downloaded. Daphne 1.0 was made to make it easy for you to setup using the auto download method
but you need to prove to Daphne that you have legit content for the games.

Yeah thanks again for the reply.  What I will do is disable the downloading in the prefrences, and then try to get a game to run setting is up manually.  I am going to set it up on the desktop and use Daphne 99.7 on my arcade to be kind of my example.  I know where the roms go! LOL! Then I will tell it where my framefiles are and edit the frame file to show where the vldp folder is with the video stuff in that.

Now in Hyperspin I will need to edit the xml because it only shows lair.zip rom and I want to play the dl21 aka the Dragon's Lair 2.1 revision.  I like that one better.  Although the original one was just random action scenes.

Yeah I own the dvd player games aka the ones you can play in a normal home dvd player.  I don't "own" Thayer's Quest but I have it in version 99.7...No big deal though...I mean I should be able to get it to work, but if not I will buy a copy of it if I can find it.  If I can't find Space Ace I may just buy another copy of that.  If I have to redownload all this stuff how long do you think it will take, and also does it download the roms as well?
