Button/Joystick issue
« on: December 24, 2010, 12:25:39 pm »
Just wanted to get an opinion here.
I recently sold my Tekken 3 Dynamo cabinet.
I did a hardware test and all the buttons + joysticks worked (all directions).
When the buyer got it home he said that some of the buttons/joysticks don't work.
I'm leaning toward it being an issue with the switches, which a few I have replaced in the past.

On the Tekken 3 he said when he pushes 1P punch + 1P kick it would  throw the opponent, however it doesn't work.
He also said player 2 directions don't work if fully pressed in the direction, but if presses 1/2 way work.

I can only think that it could be the joystick actuator & switches.
Does anyone think this could be part of a deeper board issue ?

Any thoughts ?

Thanks

I would walk the buyer through the hardware test like you did and then get the results from that first.

Some of the issues you described could be multiple things, including a bad ground that may have become flaky after moving the machine.
Not a technician . . . . just a DIY'er.

Oh wow, I never thought of the ground.
Thanks for the heads up.
I will email the buyer now.
