I found my Killer Cuts from Core cd today
« on: December 08, 2010, 02:14:49 pm »
I found out I'm having guests this weekend, and since I just finished the flooring in another room in my house, I decided to clean out the guest bedroom [i.e. the storage room while I renovate] and move the stuff into the new room. I found a mysterious grey cd wallet, and in it was Killer Cuts from Core. For those that don't know, it is the official soundtrack to Killer Instinct. It came with the SNES version I believe, and is the full versions of the tracks. Not the arcade versions or the SNES ones, the full-length tunes.

I gave it a listen, and I have to admit it's pretty good! I remembered liking it when I was younger, but I had chalked that up to it being video game related. It's not my style of music, but for what it is, it's pretty well done.

Everything can be found on youtube if you'd care to have a listen.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I still have mine. I went to a local video rental store when it came out and asked them if they had it and if they would let me have it.

Yep. Still have mine in a CD sleeve. My favorite track is either "The Instinct," or "Tooth & Claw." I just ripped it to FLAC for preservation, before my copy becomes unreadable.

I remember throwing my copy out a while ago when I was consolidating my CDs.  I ripped them all and put the cases in storage and just have 3 or 4 binders full now.  Less clutter = happy wife.  I didn't even bother ripping the KI disc though - not my style.

Loved it.
Used to listen to that spooky song
while driving through the woods
to my home at night.

Wow, thats awful. I think I have a couple these too... Isn't there one of music that is just "inspired" by the Mortal Kombat movie?
When I was still just dating my wife, she bought these because she loved some generic techno song from the soundtrack and it wasn't on either CD. I'll have to dig them out and see what we have.

I have that Killer Cuts cd in my collection along with the Killer Instinct Gold Cuts.  Both are awesome.
