Question about KeyWiz Uploader
« on: December 06, 2010, 03:14:45 pm »
Just a small question here.   Occasionally my KeyWiz Uploader software on my computer will freeze or go into not responding.  however, the KeyWiz works fine, even during these times.   It doesn't happen often but it does happen and I was hoping to eliminate this problem.     Now, I haven't remapped any controls for the KeyWiz at all using the Uploader3 tool.   So my question is, is the Uploader software even necessary to have on the computer then?  If all my controls are the defaults, would I even need it?

Thanks!

Curious, what kind of PC are you using.  Does it lock up where the wizard's eyes are all the way to the right and the status bar is full?

If your apps are set to use the defaults, you do not need the uploader software at all.

Windows XP PC.   My front end loads, and if I alt tab out, I can see the KeyWiz Uploader software is running.  When I click on it, it does not come into view.  So I cannot answer your question.   I am guessing that the Uploader software is set to run when windows starts up on my machine.  When I try to end task on it, it says its not responding and then I can close it.

But not to worry, since for me it's not necessary.  Thanks for the info Randy!

Hmm.  It shouldn't even have started running, unless you specifically set it up that way.  It sounds like both the "Stealth"  and either the "Virtual EEPROM" or the "Default Set" options have been selected.  If you run the software and de-select these, it won't start up automatically.

If you do decide you need the Uploader software for any reason, I have a version which will delay execution on systems that might have some nasty driver software hogging the system resources at startup.  It has been reported by most users to take care of the issue you described.

Windows XP PC.

Who made the PC, what are the SPECs?  is there a model number?
