I noticed quite a few people talking about going & checking out the Mesquite Auction tomorrow.
How about a head count for BYOACers that are gonna be there?

I figure we could also use this thread to discuss it afterwards...

I'll be there! (First auction I've been to for this type of thing.)
Also, any thought on what to expect from this auction?
I've heard a few people mention that the Mesquite auctions are usually higher priced.

Anyhow, I plan on taking lots of pics. Anybody want me to try & get high(er) res pics of anything specific?

Well the auction was really cool. It was kind of like being on the forum here, lot's of nice guys to talk to about games! I was able to pick up a very clean APB working for $200 and a trashy giant cab with a nice WG U2000 25" monitor for $15. That works out perfect for me as I was going to try and cram my new 360 wheel on my mame cab just to play APB and now I have a dedicated with a spare wheel! That should take at least one bolt out of my cp's neck. And I have spare wood from the mammoth cab for building.

When they said the prices would be all over they weren't kidding. A giant Ridge Racer with a pristine 33" monitor went for only $300. The classics went for WAY more than they should. A fully working Hard Racing went for $125, there was also a dual 19" racer that went for $25 but I can't remember the name. A nice working Rampage was $125. There were many more......My brain stopped working, I've been sweating my nads off in the garage for the last 4 hours playing my new APB. Texas is HOT! I won't put it in the house until I get rid of the smoke stench....ech.

Anyway Tmasman and Alans17 did well, but I'll let them post what they got and remember.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Well my main reason for going was to sell my KI2. I got $625 for it, and I would have been happy with anything over $600. It somehow got put on the row with all the trash, but people stuck around a couple extra hours to bid on it.

I passed up a couple opportunities on some 25" machines taht I will probably kick myself for, but in the long run I probably can't afford the, anyways. I need to finish the one cab I've got. Besides, there are always more auctions!

A lot of non-working stuff went for VERY cheap. However, if I couldn't guarantee that the monitor was working I didn't really want it. I could have had a couple fully functional upright driving games for $50 or less, but I wanted something for a conversion, and I didn't find those versatile enough for me. I'll probably have a dedicated driving MAME machine some day, but not today. Like I said, there will be more auctions.

Congrats to everyone that got something! It was actually kinda fun to see some guys there from this board. I must say, we were the non-dorkiest, least wierd people of the bunch!

Yeah. it was a lot of fun. I ended up walking away with 2 broken down cabinets. (no monitors)
1 Defender style cabinet with "Devastator" in it with the side art (Rambo looking dude shooting at a helicopter) a couple of Wico sticks in it.
1 Atari cabinet (type???) With a crappy "BYO" marquee that said "Aero Fighter" that turned out to be a 2 slot Neo-Geo board (powers up, but no monitor or speakers to see if it's working.)
1 Original GREAT SHAPE Galaxian Bezel!!! (Got it with the Devatstator by accident;))
4 Wico Sticks from a Control panel (another guy bought the CP for the artwork & didn't want the parts, so he let me scavenge the parts from it for FREE!!!)

I got all that & only payed $42 at the end of the day.

Overall it was a great day for me. & Like Nannuu said, there were a lot of nice people to talk to... The dual 19" racer Nannuu was talking about was a "Final Lap" that appeared to be non-working, but really just had the power cord cut!!! The guy twisted the wires together & it powered up GREAT!!!

I'm also kicking myself for not jumping in on a few things... a 25" 4 player working Battle Toads ended up going for $75! (The screen was a little green, but I'm sure it was easily fixable) Nannuu picked up that Monitor (in a monster crappy ex-mamed cabinet) for $15!!! The monitor looked NEW!!! Another one just like it went for $10!!! (I wasn't around for those, but I caught up to Nannuu after & I almost cried!) A couple of great shape cocktails went for around $125-$150 (Space Invaders & Galaga). A Non-working Pole position for $25! (Man! I wanted a Mame driving Cab...) There was even a semi-working Duramold cabinet with some odd game that went for $225.

On the other end of the scale were almost ALL of the newer driving cabs & sitdons... Crazy Taxi $4,200. Crusin Exotica $2,000. A Starwars Trilogy (with analog triger stick) went for $1,950.

I did get a few pics at the auction, but nothing real exciting. I'll show y'all when I get them off the camera & I'll take pics of the stuff I brought home soon too.

Those 2 "exMAME" cabs were the ones I pointed out to yall.

I wanted to stick around, but my brother wanted to leave. Sounds like a few good deals went through after I left.

FYI, that Battletoads with the 25" monitor went for $50, not $75. I dind't bid on it at $75 so it went for $50.

I just wanted a working cabinet with a 25" monitor. Next time, right? Looks like the calendar page on the Super Auctions website is down, but "I'll be back!"

You're right... I was kicking myself for not bidding $75... That's why I remembered that number.

The next auction is October 18th, same time & place. I'll definately be there again. I can't wait. But until then, I've gotta get the stuff I got cleaned up so I can do something with 'em.

I got wrapped up and couldn't get to the auction. I'm planning on going to the next one.

Just so I know, what time were all the deals? I mean cheapo cabs and maybe some parts. I need a mame-able empty cab.

So what time were all the deals to be had and what time should I arrive.

I didn't have a watch on me, but the "deal" (empty cabs, & games w/ problems) went fairly late in the day. They started with Slot machines (1-2 hours), went on to the classics (another 1-2 hours), then on to the 25" monitor games (1-2 hours), then they went through the Pinballs, redemption, and sports (basketball, pool, foosball, etc...) (1-3 hours), then they got to most of the good cheap stuff.

There were a few high priced things mixed in, but if I had to guess it was probably around 4PM and after that most of the good deals were had. Most of the people with lots of money had left and it was just a bunch of guys looking for the best deals they could get, so bidding rarely went very high (unless it was worth it).

If you're interested in just coming for a little while, I'd suggest coming at around 2PM an scoping things out (seeing where the auctioneer is at & where you're interests are). That ought to give you enough time to play around a little & network with a few people.

This auction didn't really start until about 10:30AM and it ended right around 7:30PM. I was pretty much there from start to finish (8:30AM - 9:30PM). I wanted to see it all my first time out. It was really fun being there before it all started & getting to play all the games.

Bring a chair!!! (or footstool that can double as a chair) You'll want it to see over everyone's heads and to sit in while waiting for the good stuff to come up. I didn't have one and my feet/legs were aching bad Sunday morning.

The Devistator cab would make a good Vertical Mame cab....Nice grab man.

Nope... That cabinet was actually converted to a Neo-Geo 2 cart game with Aero Fighters 2 in it. They had a generic "Aero Fighter" marquee glues to the back-side of that Ikari Wariors marquee. I didn't find that out until I got the thing home! The marquee is in near MINT condition (besides the black spray paint & glue on the back side... blocks the light...)

Yep, that's the one. Thanks! I guess I need to order an arcadevga for testing purposes.

You can probably wire the thing up manually to one of your other game boards if you get impatient on that ArcadeVGA.
