Calling on my BYOAC buddies for a favor..............
« on: December 07, 2010, 09:58:48 pm »
My students are currently involved in a contest with other schools that involve Youtube views.  The theme of the competition is to raise awareness for Suicide and Depression Awareness.  Please take a minute to watch the videos and support the kids and even more importantly, their messages.  Thank you all so much!

I can't really have audio at work, so I'll have to watch tonight. I did hit play on all the movies on my work computer to bump the count up by one at least. I hope the school you work at hasn't had any suicides to trigger this movie  :-\

On a side note, what software are the students using to make these videos?

Thanks Vigo!  We have had two deaths this year, but they were related to auto accidents.  This is a contest just put on by a local agency.

The students are using Final Cut Pro.

My wife reposted them all on facebook and made our kids watch them as well. Nice work Mr McCoy.

Sorry but there is a killer spelling error in the first vid or I didn't get what the word means.   Great work thou.  Kids have it 100s of times harder then back in the old days. :applaud: :applaud:

Thanks fellas!  And yep Bob, there is a mistake in there.  When it comes to the contests' I let them do their thing.  They had every chance to fix it and for one reason or another they didn't.  Good call out on that.

Thanks Jason!  The kids really jumped into the project and produced some good work.

#4 also had a couple spelling mistakes (intrest and guit).  It's a great project for sure, but when there are glaring errors in presentation, it greatly distracts the viewer from the message.

You never mentioned the grade of the students (HS, College) or what they are studying (please don't say acting ;))

Thanks for sharing and best of luck to the students.

Noting that they were High School projects, I didn't feel distracted at all. I really liked how each group took a different direction to get the message out. Thanks for sharing the videos, I can tell some of your students were really working very hard on this.  :applaud:
