Mamewah skins
« on: August 15, 2003, 01:54:54 am »
Is there anywhere else I can find some skins for the newer versions of mamewah other than stuzza's site? I want to replace the regular mame skin, and the newer ones are predominantly for different emulators. I was just wondering if anyone else had some others... thanks.

Just a note.  If you like any of the original Mamewah skins at my site, they can also be used in the newer version of Mamewah, simply by renaming the files to the new format.

There have also been a number of posts over the last few weeks with people showing the skins they have made, only some of which I actually host at my site.

that may help me as well. I wanted to use your cabinet w/ help skin.

So what exactly would I have to do? Just change GndPrx1-800.lay to layout.lay? Do I do anything with the fonts or jpg's??

pointdablame,

You really should read the layout.txt file.  This explains it all.  I'm at work and don't have it in front of me, but...
You are right..  rename that Grndprix-1.lay to layout.lay and also the backgound and option files to mame-layout.xxx   ...  xxx is whatever those extentions are.. jpg/png???  If I'm remembering this right!
I'm using the same Grand Prix layout.. I like it...

P.S.
We still need someone to host a 100meg file for paigeoliver's marquee collection.

I tried the cabinet skin and it worked well.

I noticed in some of the screen shots, they have descriptions for the games.  How can I get mamewah to display the longer names?

Thanks, Art
Well, that's where we go a-ridin' into town, a whampin' and whompin' every livin' thing that moves within an inch of its life. Except the women folks, of course.

What emulator are you referring to here?  MAME should display the full description in the Main List, and by default will cut off the clone id stuff (eg '(set 1)')...

For non-MAME, the filenames are usually the game name shown.

Using Mamewah!  I get MVSC, Dkong, Dkong3, etc.

What did I do wrong?

Thanks for the excellent work.

MAMEWAH is not an emulator, but from the romnames you gave it looks like you mean MAME...

It looks as tho you have the 'List Generation Method' set to 'Rom Folder Only', and so it is just displaying the filenames.  You should set this option to 'ROM Folder vs Listinfo (M.A.M.E.)', and then refresh your main list.  (btw this setting is in Emulator Settings > List Generation Settings).

Let me know if this is not the problem...

Sorry, I misread your question.  Correct, I'm using Mame.

That fixed my problem.  I had some problems refreshing the list, some run time error, but a few reboots fixed everything.

Thanks again.

Hey stuzza

I just wanted to say I really appreciate your site and the work you put into it.  I recently "upgraded" from ArcadeOS to Mamewah using the tutorial on your site, couldn't be any easier.  I've got 14 emulators with the custom skins and your info made it exceptionally easy to set up.

Thanks again.  Now my question, anyone got a colecovision skin?  That's the only one I'm missing right now!

Thanks.  Glad to know people are finding the info and skins useful!

CAVE is currently working on more skins for his current set which look AMAZING.  A few people have asked him to do colecovision so maybe you'll be in luck.  Keep an eye on the Artwork forum as CAVE is posting info regarding his latest skins there.

I'm also currently working on getting some console box scans together to use with CAVE's skins, so check back at the site in a few weeks.  ;)
