Hantarex Polo stopped working - help?
« on: November 27, 2010, 07:18:15 am »
Hi all,
My cab has a 28" Hantarex Polo in it, and it's worked fine for the last couple of years. The other day though it turned off and on rapidly a few times, then turned off completely and hasn't come on since.

There's a very faint ticking sound coming from the back of it - does this sound like a common problem? I don't have a huge amount of knowledge in this area!

Thanks for any advice in advance,

Fenner

lots of issues affect polo monitors,
electrolitic capacitors-change all in HV and Psu section
horizontal output transistor at t114 go short
flyback transformer
but most of all dry solder joints mainly on the flyback

not something for a novice to fix unless you have good soldering skills and some understanding of electronics/monitors

the ticking means something, but i cant recal exactly what, could be the x-ray protection circuit has triggered,

its the power supply in trip and can be caused by any short in the HT,psu or deflection circuit
i fix on average 5 a month polo and polo 2 chassis

Thank you all for the responses! If it is a short that's causing the problem, do you think it would it be something I could get fixed at a regular tv repair place?

depends on the tech at the shop, most people will look at a monitor and scratch their head
you could ask them to change some components of which the fault is likely to be
c111
c112
c114
c121
c123
c125
c129
c177
c168
t114
That would almost certainly fix the problem as long as the flyback is not faulty
