What is wrong with putting an original (modded) Xbox in your cabinet instead?

need to buy a vga box which doesnt exist anymore so you cant hook up an xbox to a standard lcd monitor with vga/hdmi. you are stuck with a standard tv or crt hdtv with component hd inputs.

xbox is only 733mhz and 64mb ram. cant play cps3 games on it. and emulation scene has been for like forever.

no xbla games.

OG xbox is still good though. I think xbox version of mame is based on 0.84 and there is finalburnxxx which plays all cps1/2/neogeo/shooters.

Really?

Well I have component to VGA and HDMI and I get 720 easy out of it.

Coinops has Final Burn and CPS1/2/3 and nearly every console out there.  Quiet and no heat issues.

Why I would want to play 360 in an arcade cabinet, is still a mystery to me.  :dunno

Oh I don't know, no reason besides SF4, SC4, BlazBlue, Raiden 4, Raiden Fighters Aces (the whole RF series)
, DDP DOJ, Mushi Futari, Ketsui, DDP DFK, Shiki III, ESPgaluda II, Ikaruga, Triggerheart Exelica etc... Basically if you are into shmups/fighters a 360, in particular a Jtag or Jap, is the only option. There is no comparison.  :burgerking:

Oh, you can definitely do a plug and play, for sure.  Wasn't sure how much you wanted to do yourself, etc.

I would steer you away from the X-arcade...  the control quality is shoddy, which can be frustrating if you plan on playing any fighting games...

Hori or Street Fighter stick would both work well.  I'd probably go with Street Fighter since it has 8 buttons on the face (A,B,X,Y,RT,RB,LT,LB).

Sorry to butt in but HarumaN are you still doing controller service?
For some odd reason I cannot send you a PM directly and cannot at reply to you Service: Controller Hacks thread,

Can you please PM me

Sorry again to jump in like that

OK, a question kind of related to this thread: If I have Pac Man CE:DX on my current (TV) Xbox, I would have to buy it again to play it on a second Xbox in a cab, right... can't have arcade content on two at the same time. Not that I wouldn't buy it again, especially if I was shelling out for another 360 just to put in a cab. Just curious!
Completed projects: Pac bartop (Plug & Play), 30th Anniversary Pac cab (MAME), Point Blank (PS1), Centipede (arcade hardware- light restore), VS. Super Mario Bros (arcade hardware- light restore) Tetris Cocktail (SNES), Arcade Classics upright (60-in-1, then MAME), Multi-Raiden (arcade hardware). Pac Man vs.(Gamecube),

Working on: Pinball Re-theme, Homebrew arcade arena shooter

No, you don't have to buy it again, you just have to connect to xbl and transfer the license to the new xbox 360. All the stuff you dled on the first xbox stays there, then you log into xbl on the second xbox and recover your gamertag and dl all the content.

The only catches are:
1) if the data in the first xbox gets lost/ corrupted you can't download it on that bi again unless you transfer everything back

2) you can only transfer licenses once every 12 months

emphatic, when are you going to post some of those candy cab pictures of your sweet Egret 360 cabs, here on BYOAC?  I've been stalking you on arcadeOtaku and am crazy-jealous of your setup!
There's a bunch of stuff you've been doing lately too, with your cabinets, that I'm surprised you haven't posted here for this lot to check out.  what gives man!

:(, oh wells

I hope I didn't upset you. It's just that the PS3 is pretty much a wasteland when shmups are concerned. Sony's fault for not being interested in 2D games. The PS2 was sweet (especially when region modded) and still is though. Mine mostly run ESPGALUDA.

Just for you (  ;D ) :

Left cabinet housing a Japanese 360 in 24kHz using Ultracade Universal Video Converter, right cabinet housing a j-tag PAL 360 in 15kHz (480i, as the 360 can't output 240p RGBS natively) | both cabinets running Do-Donpachi Daifukkatsu Black Label (disc release, NTSC-J only), arrange mode

I just added a discrete link to my site in my signature here a while back as I'm not given free stuff to review, thus I feel I can do what some would refer to as "a more mellow approach" to getting site traffic.   Also, some of the stuff I have isn't even for sale publicly (the joystick recently featured) so no need to tease people too much. If it goes into production I will try to make people aware of it though as it's superb (for shmups).
