Pause and ESC buttons
« on: November 23, 2010, 04:48:20 pm »
Just wanted to see if someone here can confirm my set up please..

Looking at adding a pause and esc button on my cp, yeah yeah i know, not meant to be but when the wife calls you cause your 2yr old has done something that I have to deal with, i's needed  ;D.

I have this device http://www.groovygamegear.com/PDF/GP40_Eco_ST.pdf and I can see pause is pointing at K. But where is esc  Is this cancel which is pointing at J ??

Thanks

you can make your pause key any key.. just have to change it in the mame control.ini

If you have systems other than mame, you just have to make sure they all have "K" as the pause button.

Sure, but if you dont use Esc you will have issues on other emulators like ZSNES.  You can remap any key to be the esc using the KeyWiz software, I couldnt ever get it to work, but maybe you can...

According to the PDF if you put a button on the P on the board it will be the escape key.

That is what P does

are you using any other emulators? or just mame?  if it is just mame, you can use any key to do anything, as long as you map it properly in the software.

Eagles linked to the KeyWiz, you linked to the GPwiz.

Thank you, didn't even notice that to be honest. Still havn't had a good look at this yet.

Isn't the key strokes supposed to show up in notepad? Been so long since i played with mame i can't remember a thing  :dizzy:

And for the sake of this thread, i'm using Mamewah guys.

Esc wouldn't show up on a keypad though...

None of my buttons, when pushed, are showing up in notepad as a key?

Maybe because they are gamepad buttons not keyboard buttons.  You have to go to a gamepad setup to see the buttons pressed.  You are using a GPwiz not  Keywiz?

Yeah, 100% right. It does show as a gamepad...told you it had been a while. Thanks.

Now, where do i find the gamepad set up...lol, will it be part of the he initial setup through the software of GPwiz?

With a gamepad you usually have to remap the actual buttons via your emulator since there is no utility provided for the gpwiz to remap it.   Not 100% sure of this since I do not have a gpwiz but if you change the name of your main posting to GPWiz problem I am sure Randy T will pop up or send him a PM with the question you originally posted.

Or you can use the joy2key utility that maps joystick to a keyboard.
