Some TV's have a hidden 'service menu' if you press a series of buttons on the remote or front bezel. Maybe the service menu will allow you to change the default start up state from power loss.
I've got a 27" RCA TV that I'm about to put in a build for a friend that does the same thing. As long as the TV stays plugged in, it will remember what video feed it was using when turned off and on. If it loses power (like on a smart strip, for example) it will revert back to channel 2. Very frustrating. Without getting inside and doing some funky stuff with the buttons by jumpering one of them or something, I think the only way I'm going to be able to get around the issue will be to either:
1. Wire a separate button on the cab for the TV's power, and power the TV on off by hand rather than with a power strip (still won't work with a power outage)
2. Rig some sort of IR blasting system to turn the TV on, and then change the TV's channel to 91 (which is 'S-video' on this model)
Anyone else come up with a more eloquent solution?
