Legos
« on: November 19, 2010, 02:29:49 pm »
Is there a fan site or something that shows the best buy for a lego set?  I have a nephew that said he doesn't want anything but legos, not even video games.  I looking for something shows a ratio of amount of cool pieces to total pieces.

I was a huge fan of the Castles series from back in the day when I was a kid. They were a challenge to build, and they were a lot of fun to play with. I also had the Pirates one too. Im not even sure if they make em anymore.  :dunno
Pictures are overrated anyway.

Just buy one of every set.   It's what we do.

I loved the pirates as well as the forest sets.  All their space sets were cool, too.

I hate all the stupid movie/cartoon/whatever branded ones nowadays.

http://www.bricklink.com/catalogList.asp?v=3&viewInv=Y&catType=S

Here you can see every piece, including the minifigs that are in a set.
Just click the (Inv) or (View Inv) to see all the parts.

Instead of looking at all the sets on the site, go to the Lego site or Amazon and get the set number you plan to buy and search bricklink using the set number because a lot of the Lego sets are discontinued.

You can just get him set 10188 and he'll be happy. :)

The big Technic sets: cars, planes, pneumatic stuff etc.
Or the basic sets. Just buy LOTS of bricks so you can make those gigantic LEGOfied objects.

I never had the technic sets. Hm. I just loved the regular legos. Anyone been to LegoLand? Its out here in Carlsbad. I swear to GOD if they would have built that 15 years earlier, I would have loved it more than Disneyland.  :banghead:

If I ever get a day to make the listings on ebay...my kid will be dumping his massive 2nd generation collection to fund his drivers education.

So far we've cleaned them with bleach and taken the pics. Ebay is next...the big lot is in the 200lbs range. Then he has over 300 figures and many more extras seperated into about a dozen more lots.

Any offers on the whole shabang? lol   :afro:

I've been thinking of selling my Mindstorms kit with 2 expansions, and 2 or 3 technics sets mixed in.
Legos tend to keep their value, right?

No Legos depreciate faster than boats.

I'll give you both $50 for your entire collections.   ;D
