Radeon 9600 problems
« on: August 14, 2003, 01:11:24 am »
Hello.  I'm hoping someone here might be able to help.  I just upgraded from a Radeon 7500 to a Radeon 9600.  I have a Panasonic CT-34WX50 widescreen HDTV.  I connect exclusively to my TV though S-Video, but I upgraded in hopes of using ATI's component adaptor.  Unfortunately, they are of out stock on those for the time being.  So I connected my 9600 through S-Video and I noticed a few problems that I did not see with the 7500.
1) When I go to the Display Properties, choose Settings, and click on Advanced, the screen seems to blink or shake a few times before the Advanced Properties will come on the screen.  Has anyone else noticed anything like this?
2) I guess my TV is using ID1 screen detection, and it's defaulting the cards signal to a zoomed in "wide" mode that I manually have to get out of each and every time the machine boots up, or if I turn off the TV and turn it back on.  The 7500 never did this to my TV and I can't figure out why the 9600 does.
I realize these are probably obscure problems that very few people have encountered, but if anyone out there has and has thought of a solution I would love to know.  None of these problems are show stoppers, they're just annoyances.  Hopefully the component adaptor will be available soon, and I won't have to worry about problem 2.  Has anyone used one of those adaptors to display in hi-def?  Thanks everyone.

i use a panasonic 32" hdtv with a geforce 2 64mb and i use a transcoder by audio authority it works great my tv even syncs down to alot of the lower arcade resolutions

the audio authority is just a generic transcoder but it does the job well and it was 99 bucks when i got it from www.digitalconnection.com
