Genesis Emulator with configurable keys
« on: November 12, 2010, 04:25:51 pm »
Hey everyone, I am trying to find emulators for all my different systems.   I have all of them that I need with the exception so far of Sega Genesis.   I can't seem to find a Genesis emulator that lets you remap all the controls.   Namely, remapping the buttons for Save State, Load State, Exit, and Reset.   Does anyone know of any emulator for Genesis that is this flexible?  I tried searching the forums but all I could find was posts from several years ago that didn't have any solutions.

I'd like the keys to be able to be mapped to these
Save State -> Ctrl + J
Load State -> Ctrl + L
Exit -> H
Reset -> M

I've tried several emulators so far with no such luck.  Any ideas?

Also, I've tried MESS, which does an OK job emulating, but it doesn't seem to support save files, so that won't work for me....

the best sega emu is Kega Fusion, but I dunno how configurable it is.

I tried Kega Fusion but you can only remap the p1 and p2 controls and not the admin type stuff like load, save, exit, etc...   At least I didnt see any way in there to configure that.

It's sort of sad, but that's what I'm coming to find out.   It's just weird that other emulators for other systems have that option.   But for some reason none have done it yet for Genesis...

are you playing with a controller or with a keyboard?

if you are using a controller use xpadder to map a load and save key

Yeah just using a keyboard, no joypad.  But I may end up resorting to some sort of scripting I guess, to resolve this.

I haven't tried any of these, but maybe a keyboard remapper app might work?
