Replacing WG K7000
« on: November 07, 2010, 06:02:29 pm »
Hi
My monitor was rejuvenated, capkitted, but decided to die. As I live in Poland it is  almost impossible to get new, or refurbished 25" arcade monitor (maybe you can help me with that?). The cost of shipping an arcade monitor from USA is way too high, so I decided to replace my monitor with european crt TV that has SCART RGB. I have a few questions with that:
1. Is tube from 25" TV exactly the same size, as 25" arcade monitor (maybe it is measured differently?)
2. Should I buy 100 hz tv, or classic 50 hz?
3. What models of 25" european TV can you recommend for arcadevga and mame (I am thinking about SONY TRINITRON KV-X2561D, or GRUNDIG MEGATRON M63-28)?
4. I found Grundig crt tv with vga input, I was wondering If it could work as multisync monitor (Will it display 15 khz resolutions while connected by vga cable?)

replace the tube ...
i'd look for a discarded tv as a crt donor .  IF there are any nearbytv shops, id inquire.
and it would be helpful to have the tube number from the orig monitor .

or, find a ham radio guy or other electronics hobbyist for additional part sourcing assistance .

powodzenia

Thanks for the advices, and how about 50 vs 100 hz crt? Which one would be better for arcade gaming with arcadevga?

The CRTs themselves are identical.  Most arcade games actually run at ~60Hz, but I'm told most European TVs will happily handle that.

Can you buy or get shipped any monitors straight from Taiwan? If so, try Jen Shinn brand monitors:
