I-Pac not responding
« on: November 06, 2010, 07:03:58 pm »
Hello people, a very strange issue is happening to my I-pac.
I have I-pac 2 Value Edition via USB. Player 1 buttons go fine, and can be programmed without problems.
But player 2 has some issues:

All buttons work, except from 2SW8 and 2nd player start positions.
When I press my 2nd player pushbutton which is wired into "2nd player start" in the I-pac there is no sign of input in WinIpac, or in general.
If get my 2nd player pushbutton and I wire it to let's say 2SW6, and press, a signal is sent, as I can see it in WinIpac, but if I wire it again to the "2nd player start" in the I-Pac, no signal. And same happens to position 2SW8 in the I-pac. SO, the problem is not the pushbutton, not the wiring, as it works in other I-pac inputs.

I'm very worried that this is a Hardware problem, maybe I broke something in the I-pac without noticing, as they used to work before.
I have installed a Nlite Windows XP, took some services out, bla bla bla, but I don't think this can be the issue.

Any thoughts on this?? I'm  :banghead:

Well, have you tried flashing default settings? Perhaps it has been inadvertently programmed to a shifted key or something.

Thanx Brian, but yes, I've tried default settings, and no answeer.
I also tried assignin with the keyboard, for example, letter "A" into "player 2" in the WinIpac, and then pressing pushbutton wired to that position, and no answeer. Sadly I'm suspecting that this is a hardware issue.
It only happens with player 2 "SW8" and "2nd player start" rackets. As if there was no output comming from them.
Is it possible that wiring Ipac while is in on (green light) and touching wrong cables, could had burn some of the circuits?

Not a real solution here but a workaround would be to just reconfigure the start 2 command in mame to match whatever input that still works on the ipac, same for that pushbutton, unless you've maxed out your inputs.

Thanx taylormadelv, unfortunately I think I broke something in the Ipac, 2 inputs not working. Well..I can still make MAME work, just using other sluts
like PA, PB, SW7, etc, and mapping MAME again....joder
